To feel bad that I feel glad?

My DS is (just finishing) Yr1. There has been a boy in his class who has caused problems for my son & the class since they were in reception.
This boy has kicked & hit my son on a couple of occasions and his behaviour has caused the classroom to be evacuated of the other children for their own safety on numerous occasions (twice in one day last week).
This boy's mother has just announced to the class group on FB that over the summer they are moving house & so this boy will not be returning to our school in Sept.

I am shocked by how relieved I feel. The boy always looks angry & I have wondered if there maybe an underlying cause for his behaviour. But, at the end of the day, he is a 6 yr old child and I feel ashamed that I am glad he is leaving.

Of course, I have not said this to anyone IRL. AIBU to be glad?

No, I don’t think so. You aren’t wishing him I’ll, just relieved he won’t be a problem for your DC anymore. Who knows, perhaps a new start will be good for the boy too.

YANBU to be glad he's leaving. Nothing nasty is happening to him, he's just moving house.

9amTrain · 17/07/2018 19:11

He's only moving... yanbu to feel relieved.

ThisIsntMeHonestGuv · 17/07/2018 19:12

Are you thinking of moving any time in the next few years?

Might be worth asking where they are moving to, just in case...

Yanbu.

Phew, thank you for reassuring me.
I do hope that whatever school he goes to in Sept is able to meet his needs.

Why did they evacuate the classroom?

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 17/07/2018 20:52

My DS said that he started throwing books & then chairs around the room. The head of KS1 was called to assist but couldn't stop him. I presume the staff evacuated the classroom to keep the other children from being injured

YANBU I think I would be so relieved in your situation!

BunnyCarr · 18/07/2018 15:19

YANBU.

Fingers crossed he won't suddenly materialise back in your DS classroom in the future....

YANBU

I hope the little boy gets the support he needs in his new school
