I’ve been offered a job but it’s casual carework, is that basically zero hours?
AIBU if I don’t take it because I need a job that’s permanent even though I want to become a carer?

Surely the job offerer would be able to tell you That? If you speak to them they should be able to give you an idea of what hours you would normally do. I used to be a home carer and that was a zero hours contract but I never had less than 30 hours a week and they were always trying to get me to do more. They said it was zero hours contracts as it "gives them flexability" which basically meant if a lot of my clients got taken into hospital or worse in a few days of each other they didn't have to pay me for not having anyone to care for. Depends where you are but most areas are very short of carers so it would be unusual to not get many hours.

We have bank staff, they have no hour contracts. Sometimes they have lots of hours but at times they have none. I've done it before and found it stressful. When hours are available doing as many as I can for fear of not having anything the following few weeks

Working in a self contained flats unit. The service users live in their own flats so basically just looking after them when they aren’t in their own homes, That’s why I’m asking..they didn’t give much away just I had the job.
