Fucking GP receptionists

Aibu to think they must train them to be as rude, unhelpful and patronising as possible???

Just left the GP's and I feel like caving the fucking receptionists smug cunting face in.

Yes that's probably an overreaction but they fucking wind me up on a par with dealing with the fucking council.

@Mishappening

Looks like you should have called the ambulance as it was an urgent care need rather than a GP need - but, must admit, a lot of patients can also be reticent to call an ambulance when they need one. It's a tricky conundrum.

Hope you got sorted ok in hospital.

Misshappening why didn't you call an ambulance in the first place if that's what was needed?

Tistheseason17 · 22/07/2018 18:28

@CrochetBelle
I work at a GP practice and we get this all the time.

However... a patient is not a doctor and cannot possibly know (unless their arm/leg hanging off!) whether they may have life threatening sepsis or something else.

It's really difficult and we cannot blame @Mishappening. It's just how it is - and it's a good job she pushed for the GP apptmt to make her go to hospital.

That said, the other day I got called all sorts because a pt refused to go to A&E after he said he thought he'd broken arm/shoulder. There are extremes of pt behaviour and minimising is very normal as we are all told how much pressure A&E is under - no one shouts for the GPs to say how much pressure they are under.
