To share socks?!

I'm so sick of socks. Washing them finding the other one and having a whole box full of odds. And the kids having socks that are similar but not the same.

Me, my son and both my daughters could potentially wear the same size socks (we have different sized feet but all in a similar range and find socks very giving).
I'm extremely tempted to just get rid of all the socks and just have one by drawer downstairs with white trainer socks that the 4 of us wear. Just buy like 20 packs of the same sock.

Is it ok to sock share?! Doesn't seem to be the norm. But obviously they are washed in between uses?!

Communal sock basket in our house! Smile

I think I'm going to go for it!

Just do it, it's only socks and they'll be washed between wears. I bought a job lot of black socks as I was sick of the odds, hubby doesn't care.

I Share socks with my children - so much easier having a designated sock drawer or sock basket 😆

callymarch · 16/07/2018 17:52

2 teenage daughters and me. One big pile of black socks.

ForalltheSaints · 16/07/2018 18:29

I would never share socks or any underwear.

SureIusedtobetaller · 16/07/2018 18:31

Daughters and I all share socks. One basket near washing machine and we just get them as we need them. Some are more mine or theirs but we don’t care. Saved hours of sorting over the years I reckon.

In our house DS wears black socks (school uniform requirement); DH wears grey heavy duty socks (has to wear work boots) and I get to wear pretty patterned ones (which my menfolk wouldn't be seen dead in)

Me and DD when she was a teen it was just us 2 so we just had a couple of dozen identical socks in white and black made life very easy

theymademejoin · 16/07/2018 18:44

My dd seems to think we do this as she regularly raids my underwear and sock drawers. I don't mind the sock/tights sharing but do find the knicker sharing a bit iffy. I've also long since accepted that make-up sharing is a thing and that any vaguely youngish clothes will migrate to her room. I have drawn the line at the expensive sunglasses though.

I never nick any of her stuff😇.

DH wears my socks when he has forgotten to put his own in the laundry and therefore runs out of clean ones.

He also wears mine on holiday as invariably he forgets to pack enough.

When my sister lived at home as a student she shared socks with my mum.

UrgentScurryfunge · 16/07/2018 18:55

The DCs have a communal sock drawer and pants drawer. They are the same size. They wear the same socks for school anyway. They have the same taste and would squabble over the pants and fancy socks anyway. Applying ownership and seperating them out would just be a waste of time.

DC have communal school socks. Much easier to sort.
