Hotels shouldn't use bedsheets as table cloths

We were there for two nights. It was quirky - a rambling old place, quite tired in decor, and old fashioned in fittings and services.

It's an Independent country house hotel - they hosted three weddings plus receptions, a private wine tasting and a regional political conference type event while we were staying.

This morning at breakfast, every table had bedsheets as tablecloths.

AIBU to think this was odd rather than quirky? I know all linen is boil washed but it was quite off putting!

@Anasnake Oh I know - I'm sure the cloths were 'clean' - it just left me feeling a bit ick although I'm not sure why.

And I get it's been a busy weekend for them but surely having enough table linen is a consideration when deciding if a booking can be fulfilled - just like having enough chairs and place settings!

My grandma used to sing to me every morning, "Lazy Mary, we need the sheets for the table" so there is form for this!

3 weddings in a weekend probably slammed them, they were properly working overtime to keep things running while running out of everything!

I wouldn’t have a issue, they would have been washed.

I'm with you quirky! I wouldn't have liked the thought of being serving food and drink on an ex bed sheet.

If the sheets were used as tablecloths on a permanent basis, that would be fine.
But, interchangeable between beds and tables?????? Gross!!!

If we need a table cloth at work, we use a bed sheet. And put crisps and sweets in vomit bowls.(clean ones!) (I'm a nurse.)
