To film a practical joke

Needsupporttoday · 15/07/2018 11:48

Person A plays a practical joke on person B and films it. Person B realises after the event that he/she was filmed and wants Person A to delete the film. The joke was funny but person B objects to the film as person A will send it to others. Person A thinks Person B is BU and vice versa.
Should A delete the film or is B being precious?

really sorry you went through this

when you say "minimise contact" I hope you mean you won't speak to him again. I hope your DH is supporting you.

Life is long and full of shit. There is no need to add to the stuff that falls in that category!!

Sparklesocks · 15/07/2018 13:49

Practical jokes are only funny if both sides agree they are

ElementalHalfLife · 15/07/2018 14:01

Humiliating/embarrassing someone by playing a practical joke then double-dipping on the humiliation/embarrassment by filming it? Person A is an asshole twice over. Person B is NBU to ask for the video to be deleted but is BU to expect any kind of consideration from an asshole.

Fluffyears · 15/07/2018 14:16

Practical jokes are mostly cruel so person A is a monumental dick

Needsupporttoday · 15/07/2018 14:24

Pretty much zero support from dh. He is fiercely (overly) protective of his family.
We have had to agree to disagree on this one but I hope he sides with anyone in B's situation in the future, regardless of who A (the filmer) is.

Sorry you’re on your own with this (in terms of your DH being an unsupportive arse). Person A is an intrusive idiot.

wellBeehivedWoman · 15/07/2018 14:28

Person A is a prick, sorry they put you through that Sad

AtrociousCircumstance · 15/07/2018 14:30

Apparently it’s not lawful to film someone without their consent if they are in a place where they can expect privacy, such as a bathroom or changing room.

Not sure if this applies to you OP.

A is a dick. Is he one of those ‘Archbishop of Banterbury/Bant and Dec’ types who complains that ‘you can’t say nothing these days’? Sounds annoying and dumb as fuck.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 15/07/2018 14:39

A should definitely delete. They are BU.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 15/07/2018 14:40

And YY is drop contact with him (and be wary of dh tbh).

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 15/07/2018 14:40

I’d*

MyAuntyBadger · 15/07/2018 14:49

A should not be allowed to have access to technology on account of him being an arsehole. Drop his phone in water. Hope you're ok, op - I loathe practical jokes.

Redundancy1 · 15/07/2018 15:16

"Pretty much zero support from dh. "

I sense a practical joke involving both their phones and a lot of water. or paint.

SendintheArdwolves · 15/07/2018 18:05

Can you ask to see the film? Pretend you have calmed down, and maybe you should watch it again and maybe it's not so bad.

As soon as the phone is in your hands, delete the video.

Then apologise. As sarcastically as you can manage. If they get angry, suggest they need to lighten up and see the funny side.
