My son has fallen more than 5 centiles and is way off the bottom of the chart at 8.5kg and 75cm tall. He's nearly 2. He's still in size 3-6 trousers, size 3 nappies and 6-9 in tops. He's on track to be about 150cm tall as an adult. He has multiple severe allergies and is undergoing testing for other conditions at the moment. I'm so worried about him! Part of me feels silly because he is a happy, bright, chatty, active little boy who exceeds all developmental milestones except growth. Anyone had a baby who just grew later on!? Or any ideas what could be causing it? Or just slap me for complaining because I know it could be a lot worse!

It does, thank you :) he used to be very allergic to wheat (blood in his nappy) etc and I'm not sure he's been tested for that apart from skin prick tests which were neg for wheat (positive for everything else though!)

I was coming on to mention coeliac testing too. My DS dropped from 91st centile at 1 year down to 9th by 3. He has been GF for 2 years now and just been measured between 25th-50th. Definitely ask for that test, it’s a blood test not a skin prick test and they need to be eating gluten for 6 weeks before it.

Can I just tell you that height, in and amongst his other health conditions, is very low on THEIR priorities. But you must push for it on yours.

I am very short, because as a diabetic, non protein was pushed as a diet, and I didn't grow for 2 years. Until my mum insisted. Now she regrets waiting so long before she complained.

Please don't let that happen to you.
Height is important in males.

My DS is disabled and is TINY compared to his class mates and kids his age, he has had growth spurt now and he looks so tall? But when next to his peers he's a dot!...paediatrician said they will look in growth hormones in next year or so he is 10 now.
He is not even on the centile line for his height or weight and the circumference of his head!...

On another note my cousin a year between us he was always small for his age, through child hood we were same height and weight!...then went to live somewhere else when he was 17 and met up in 2014, obviously kept in touch through messaging etc and I actually walked passed him as he is now 6'0....I'm only 5'2 do I really didn't expect him to be much taller?...he said it was as soon as he hit 18 he just suddenly grew!....
Hope your DS is ok OP good luck 💐
