To wonder how they give DC their full attendance record before the year ends

DC are in primary school. Every year they get their school report, including the full breakdown of their attendance at school, more than a week before the end of the summer term. I don’t mind but I do find it funnny. Is this normal ?

We got ours weeks ago and took them out for a holiday the next day Grin

NewYearNewMe18 · 14/07/2018 19:25

It's included up to and including the day it's printed.

Perfectly usual.

monkeysox · 14/07/2018 19:25

They don't count the last half term

EloiseMinch · 14/07/2018 19:27

Does this mean we can all go on holiday with our kids as soon as half term happens in the Summer term? This could save me thousands!

Pretty standard to get it at least a week early.

Our DC'S reported stated any additional days off will be added, there are no penalties here for absence though, unless a DC has over 20 days without good reason.

PattiStanger · 14/07/2018 19:36

Isn't it obvious that they have to do it up to a date a little before the end of term to get the reports out?

Why does it matter?

EloiseMinch · 14/07/2018 19:47

PattiStranger it only matters if it means we can get cheaper holidays :)

For Ofsted and LA reporting purposes they only look at the year up to May half term so that exams/study leave etc don't skew the figures

PattiStanger · 14/07/2018 19:52

They still take a register after the reports are written, maybe schools are different but ime the decision to fine is based on the actual attendance not on what goes in the report

EloiseMinch · 17/07/2018 09:47

Of course they do!

Mousefunky · 17/07/2018 09:59

I thought the same, seems the last week of term is the perfect time to take them on holiday Wink.

grasspigeons · 17/07/2018 10:09

Our EWO (education welfare officer) is in this week so I am pretty sure Local Authorities look beyond May

categed · 17/07/2018 10:13

My classes attendance was inputed in May. It is just to show parents attendance to that point. Attendance records are still kept in school.

mfwannabe · 17/07/2018 10:18

Our reports state that attendance info is from the date after the reports were produced last year (3rd June in our case) until the date the report was produced this year. So, any holidays in the last few weeks of this academic year show as an absence in the next academic year. I had thought that would be the case for all schools but it seems not!

No! You clearly have a very fussy head :)

Yes, **EloiseMinch we certainly do! Retiring in 4 days - thankfully 😉
