To not expect Cerazette to be doing this to me?

Posting here rather than health for traffic.

I'm on month two of taking Cerazette contraceptive mini pill. On the first month I started a period on day 12 and it lasted for a reasonable 4 days. So far so good.

Month two and I started a period 21 days after the last one ended. It went on for 5 days and then finished for 4 days before starting up again with the same level of intensity. I'm now on day 6 and it's showing no signs of stopping. Where's it all coming from?

Is this normal?! I've heard that your body can take up to three months to get used to the pill but I'm not keen on it if this is what's going to be happening to me.

Also going through a difficult time at home and not sure if that's why my mood is a bit off or if Cerazette is causing that too as I seem low.

Anyone else experienced this?

Cerazette made me suicidal. I don't remember being given any warning. I also had some irregular spotting, but that was not really an issue as I was so, so low.

Sorry to hear others aren't getting on well with it.
It works brilliantly for me. Stopped having periods immediately and now just get the tiniest amount of break through bleeding a couple of times a year. It certainly isn't for everyone but it might be worth sticking with it a little longer to see if things calm down.

no kids at the time so he didn’t want me to have coil

Why on earth not? After my hideous experience with cerazette I got a Mirena, it was the best form of contraception I've ever encountered. Stopped my periods and actually improved my mental health and my skin. The insertion wasn't a fun time but it was a few minutes of pain for 5 years of worry and trouble free contraception.

breakfastofmilk the doctor did suggest the coil too but played up how great Cerazette was so I opted for that instead. I think I'll investigate the coil option and maybe go for that.

I was on Cerazette for a few years. No bleeding at all after my first period. That was great. However, I did find it affected my mood. I got awful rages.

I wish it had worked for me, as I loved not having a period every month.

Got the copper coil now and (sorry potential TMI) bleed like I’ve been stabbed in the uterus for a week.

What age are you OP? I’ve been going through 14-21 day cycles for over a year now. Currently have copper IUD but I don’t think it’s that as it been in 7 years. I do think I’m at the beginning stages of menopause. My mum, aunts and grandmother all had early menopause (periods completely done at ages 40, 39, 40, 38 and 42). I am 34 and get a feeling the frequent heavy periods are the beginning of the end for me. If you are bleeding a lot more than normal and your periods are heavy keep an eye on your iron levels as you might end up anemic.

I had cerazatte a number of years ago and haven’t been right since. It gave me quite a bit of weight gain, mainly around the tummy area, and it has been really tough to shift. The main side effect for me was/ still is the persistent back acne. I’ve even had a 6 month course of antibiotics from the DR to help shift it so my back is around 95% clear now but still breaks out every now and then.

I think the problem with any pill or contraceptive is that we all get different side effects. For example I know people who swear by the depo injection who stop bleeding all together but for me it made me bleed for 4 months straight. I have a copper IUD which I love and have no issues with but I know other people who have had a really hard time on it (including one woman who started loosing her hair due to the high levels of copper on her body)

They say to give most things 3 months to settle down. I would try to stick to that unless the side effects were something really serious. After 3 months I would then consider changing to something else if you are having the same issues.

thanksforallthefish I'm 43 but very fit and healthy, ideal weight etc and no family history of early menopause - Mum just went through hers and she's 62 and my Gran and Great a Gran were also around the same age. I've had a few dizzy spells lately and was wondering if this was down to the heat (and the fact I do have slightly low blood pressure) or the start of anemia.

I'm really humming and hahhing between stopping it when this pack ends in 4 days or just biting the bullet and taking the last pack so at least when I go to my GP I can say I did do the full 3-months and gave it my best shot. I'm not sure if I can take the mood lows though as month two is much worse than month one was so what on earth could month three be like?!
