DC has made some thank you cards & I want to show my appreciation. Do I slip in a voucher or go for something like a personalised notebook? If voucher JL or Amazon?

I'd choose the JL voucher (teacher btw). I tend to find I get loads of notebooks as gifts already, with a JL voucher I could get a nice pen to write in them with!

The teacher will love the card too - made cards are always really special.

I think the teacher will be very happy to just get the thank you card from your DC. That would mean so much more than anything else you could buy.

Missbrick1 · 13/07/2018 18:40

Thank you, I know the teacher doesn’t need anything from me but I really want to show my appreciation. They have been fantastic.

flowerpott As a teacher would you prefer voucher to wine/chocs?

A nice letter to the head teacher or SLT praising the teacher would be an amazing gift. Trust me.

LockedOutOfMN · 13/07/2018 18:48

The thank you card would make my day (teacher here). No need for a gift (honestly). My favourite thing would be for you to email your thanks to me and copy in the Head.

rabbitmat · 13/07/2018 18:51

A written note expressing your appreciation would mean so much more than a voucher. We have a page of the report for parents to sign and make any comments. Most people return it with just a signature but the few who add even a simple 'thank you' make it all worth while.

Oh, in that case, always wine!

The teacher will love the gesture regardless, it's a really nice thing to do. Honestly, I'd be delighted with any of the ideas you've mentioned, but... I think we all feel a little bit more "understood" when it's a cheeky bottle of wine! (Keeps us going till September...) Wink

I agree that a card or letter is enough, and is greatly appreciated.

However, if you insist I would love a JL voucher!

BartlebyTheScrivener · 13/07/2018 19:07

A card or letter with a personal message and if you are wanting to give a gift I love a voucher as even with chocolates and wine it can be easy to get it wrong (yes I'm very fussy).

Missbrick1 · 13/07/2018 19:11

Thank you, good point emailing the headteacher. Not sure who drinks what which puts me off wine but may do some digging.

I'd like an amazon voucher. money goes further and I get a lot of resources from amazon as well as bits for me.

JennyBlueWren · 13/07/2018 19:59

I think if you want to give a gift then vouchers are the best. Portable, unbreakable, and don't depend on personal taste. Only downside is that you declare the cost. As for where Amazon or a local cafe.
