Maybe some people have non-disclosure agreements, but otherwise...

What was it like?

How staged were scenes where people apparently meet the presenter for the first time or are otherwise surprised?

When shows imply a sort of friendship with the presenter, how made up did you find that was? Is there actually zero contact apart from when they turn up to film, or, during shows that cover longer periods of time (like several weeks or months) do they sometimes send emails or texts to ask how people are getting on?

Are there presenters who are arsey off camera but expect to be treated like your new best mate on it?

Your employers have a duty of care to you as well as her OP. Make them aware of that. They have to manage her not just indulge her because she's ill. Managing her means managing her behaviour towards other staff. Make sure you keep detailed records of her aggressive behaviour. If they can't manage the situation properly seek advice from an employment solicitor. Why should her illness affect your well being?

Bumping as I have always wanted to know this.
ToPlanZ wrong thread?

@ToPlanZ wrong thread?

FriendsDontLie · 13/07/2018 22:45

What sort of show do you mean? My family were on Coast v Country if that counts?

pennycarbonara · 13/07/2018 22:57

hah, thank you ToPlanZ for the inadvertant bump.

Last night I watched Hugh's Fat Fight and an episode of Eat Well For Less so I was thinking about that sort of thing, Trinny and Susannah etc.

@FriendsDontLie I haven't seen Coast v Country but househunting shows are a big subgenre of this sort of thing too, so definitely interesting to hear about as well!

Not me but know a few who have been on come dine with me (know that’s a bit different). Fairly staged yes

FriendsDontLie · 13/07/2018 23:12

There was an “interview” type process over the phone, then a screen test at my sisters house to make sure they were all okay on camera. Followed a lot of background filming of bits and pieces, none of which the presenters were there. They did 4 days of straight filming going round the houses with the presenters who are apparently lovely and friendly! My sister didn’t find a house. The show won’t air until November time but we’ve not heard anything from them since, and it was a few months ago now

MissionItsPossible · 14/07/2018 04:29

@pennycarbonara they never meet the presenter for the “first time” on film. Notice shots on these lifestyle shows switch between an angle of the presenter knocking on the door and person greeting them but you never see camerapersons in the background of each angle. It’s because they film several shots of the initial meeting from different angles.

Bumping for the morning crowd. I am really interested in this 😀
I know that someone who had been on Changing Rooms said that they put boards over the windows to pretend it was evening when it wasn't.

I really want to do a MN Come Dine WithMe.

I'd ccok:

Dairylea on Toast
Tomato Soup (canned)
And Tidydancer's fruit platter- ie, fruit laid out in order of size.
