Period and Wedding Day

More of a WWYD?

I'm getting married on August 15th, unfortunately my period is due on the 13th Sad Usually lasts 3 days.
We're going on our honeymoon on the 19th for 10 nights.

Would I be better off taking the pills which stop my period and risk coming on in the last couple of days of the honeymoon OR have my period as usual, be on for the wedding day bit have a guaranteed period free honeymoon?

Urghhh typical timings!

Why don’t you delay this months period? If you take it for two weeks then you will be period free on your wedding day and honeymoo.

other way round, I would say - dealing with a period in a gigantic frock will be difficult. Periods don't stop shagging. they might not stop you shagging but for lots of people they do

I would get norethisterone.

Take the last dose wedding day so it gets you to the day after the wedding. Then have your period before honeymoon.

Just one word of warning, friend’s DD took norethisterone when doing her D of E and it gave her terrible spots. I’ve no idea if this is a common problem but might be worth checking, especially if you are prone to breakouts.

Wishing you a spot and period free wedding and honeymoon!

Hmm I would say it depends what your periods are normally like. I'm very jealous that they're only 3 days but if that's 3 day of utter hell - heavy bleeding, huge clots, massive pain, raging mood swings - then I'd take something to delay it. If it's 3 days of manageable bleeding etc then I'd suck it up and be period free for the honeymoon. Where are you going on honeymoon?

frenchknitting · 13/07/2018 12:30

Have you had your period this month yet? Can you delay your period this month, to move it a week? Rather than run two pill packs together during a holiday I would always do it a couple of months in advance, to avoid any side effects. .

Hogtini · 13/07/2018 12:32

I would get norethisterone. Back to back pills don't always work for this purpose. I've taken norethisterone a few times and it did the job with no issues.

unintentionalthreadkiller · 13/07/2018 12:33

If you're in a very slinky dress and have heavy periods i'd be delaying it for the wedding.

If you have manageable light periods and you wouldn't be terrified of leaking I'd just stick to normal and be period free for honeymoon,

while the OP's sex life is not our business, even if she or he are bothered by a monthly event a few shag-free days on the honeymoon are not an issue. Most people have done it before by the time they get married!

all drug advice on here is useless as drug effects are personal. The pill or the wotsit may work, may not. MN absolutes are utter nonsense as always.

this is why brides choose wedding dates.
