How about a mixed tournament? When two countries compete they play their women's teams against each other in the first half and their men's teams against each other in the second half. Similar alternation for ET if needed and penalties.

I think the advantages would be fresher legs throughout the games, more higher intensity play, women being involved a major global sporting event...oh and I think England might win given they are the only team to have made both sets of semi-finals in the women's and men's competition.

Even I can see that you couldn't have women and men on the pitch at the same time! That really wouldn't work or be safe.

I don't get the argument that the women would be assumed to be letting the side down...presumably if one women's team was losing then the other women's team is wining.

Croatia may be pissed about their women's performance but England would be celebrating them all up and down the land for saving the men's bacon after they went 2-1 down in the first half Grin

tbh, as in most sports that have mixed team events, you usually keep the segregated version too...so this could be on top of the men's and the women's.

I guess You could have both tournaments happening at the same time at the same venue, a bit like the Olympics, but that would be an awful lot of matches. Imagine the fume on here Grin

What are you talking about? The half time score was 1-0 to England.

Apart from Brazil, Germany and Sweden.

I meant this cycle bad.

It was a hypothetical score in a hypothetical match...its not possible for it to be factually inaccurate....

Why not go the whole hog & have a thumb war instead of penalties, if the matches are tied after extra time

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 13/07/2018 22:58

Nah, they should use the eurovision formula.

EG:- you win it, you host & pay for the next world cup.

AlonsosLeftPinky · 13/07/2018 23:34

The disadvantage is that it would be shit.
