To ask whether any of you have used a DIY mole removing kit?

Just that really... I used a mole removing kit called “wart and mole vanish” about two months ago and was just looking to see if anyone had had removed some moles at home and what was the healing process like for you.

I had some awful really big sticky-out moles on my belly...and they are definitely gone now, however I do have some proper red scarring in their place. I do actually prefer the scars because at least they are flat to the the skin.

Has anyone else used anything like this? And if so, how did it heal for you? And how long did it take?

Are you crazy?

Birdsgottafly · 13/07/2018 01:02

Have you had them checked by a Doctor to say that they are OK for home removal?

You've got to be careful.

I had a mole removed by a cosmetic Nurse, the full healing took around two weeks,

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2018 01:05

yes it was 'hilarious'.. bought one from eBay years ago and it was literally a nail file and a bottle of some substance probably water so I'd actually paid for an emery board Had a practise run first with a tiny mole on my arm. I had to file it twice a day..it was raw.. and ten years on , I still have it!
I've tried since with cider vinegar and a pin..(with a plaster and padding on overnight.. took the top layer off but it all grew back). So nope..pls don't try! I'm going to see my doctor next about them!

UltimateChaos · 13/07/2018 01:10

Maybe I am little crazy tbh Grin

I haven’t ever had any of my moles checked over but I have always kept a close eye on any changes to them.

This stuff came with a pin and an emery board too! But it was definitely not water! Bit late now as the moles completely fell off a month ago and my partner found one of them in the bed. Shock. So gross, fascinating but gross!

Please don’t remove moles yourself. If you want them removed it needs to be done professionally and checked at the same time. If they suddenly happen to be cancerous they would be growing below the surface and not as easily noticed before it progresses.

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2018 14:14

They SENT A PIN!!!? A mole in the bed makes me want to puke ;)
But mine are facial moles, I don't want to mess around any more.
Over a few months I pricked them nightly with sterilised pin, scraped with emery and then applied apple cider vinegar. Then a plaster. The plaster would turn black and the moles were drying out. I know this has worked for some people. As I said.. took off top layer.. they looked smaller. But in a few days it had all grown back. Every time.

UltimateChaos · 13/07/2018 17:38

They honestly did! My partner is used to my somewhat impulsive antics but even he was a little scared this time. Yeah, he hasn’t let the bed-mole go since. Oops!

I have one large mole on my face but I just couldn’t go through with it, I don’t mind it that much but my belly ones would catch on my jeans and always hurt.

The acid stuff I used was strong, like seriously strong... I had to leave it on for 20 painful minutes before washing it off... It scabbed up immediately. A one time application.

Moles are definitely completely gone, but just left with little scars that I am trying to fade a bit before my holiday.

OMG, acid like stuff & DIY removal? Is that safe? I picked at one on back of my shoulder thinking it was a spot and it's not grown back.(bloody hurt). The fleshy one on my lower back sited exactly where skirt buttons sit I had done privately as buttons made it sore. Scarring wise I used nivea with jojoba & vitamin e oil. Took a while but no scarring now. Mole Dr told me neck and breast skin are worst for scarring as skins thinnest there. I then had neck one done: took a year for scar to go completely.

HildaZelda · 13/07/2018 19:24

Oh my God. This is worse than the poster who started a thread about cleaning her teeth with a magic eraser sponge!

alltoomuchrightnow · 14/07/2018 00:19

Hilda, that wasn't me, but I did try it once (only v gently) ! Didn't work though.

StillMedusa · 14/07/2018 01:01

Are you nuts?! Grin slopping an unknown substance on a mole.. yikes!
I had one on my face that I wanted gone, so (as the NHS won't do it for cosmetic reasons) I booked into a private clinic run by an NHS surgeon, who removed it properly, and had it biopsied... no scars , no hassle and the knowledge that it has been removed safely!

agnurse · 14/07/2018 01:02

Always check with your provider first. If a mole is cancerous it needs to be removed VERY carefully - melanoma can invade the basement membrane and spread to other parts of the body. (Most skin cancers only spread locally but melanoma is the exception.)

IME the usual practice is for a family provider to remove moles that are not on the face and to refer to dermatology for facial moles. This is not because facial moles are inherently more dangerous; rather, it's because dermatologists have more training in techniques that will prevent or minimize scarring. The LAST thing you want to do is leave a huge scar on someone's face.

You have no idea whatsoever how much mole is left deeper down below the surface. Confused

I had a mole removed from my thigh and the hole left was so big that it remains covered with a shiny layer of scar tissue, but I can press on that and feel empty space with no bottom...

Moussemoose · 14/07/2018 02:14

I had a mole that stuck out. The doctor had just shrugged. I tied a piece of cotton around it and tightened it every day. In a week or so it dropped off, it was like magic. Sporn heaven.

RedBallpointPens · 14/07/2018 02:21

I had one properly removed by my GP. The redness went away after a few weeks and it just looks like normal skin now.

Monty27 · 14/07/2018 02:25

Omg Shock
How old are you?
Do you know about skin cancer?
Confused

OhWotIsItThisTime · 14/07/2018 05:26

I had one removed from my bra line. It stuck out loads and looked horrible. My gp referred me and I had it cauterised off - the smell was very disturbing. It healed up in no time and left a flat white scar.

I was warned it may grow back.

lljkk · 14/07/2018 05:30

So you apply acid & they somehow dissolve away? How do you apply right amount, not dissolve the rest of you? The string method sounds good for stick-outers.

I've had moles excised before by professional with a scalpel, not gone the acid route.

My sebborrhic keratoses flake away & it's like picking apart a mole when they appear & I remove them; they may bleed in the process so not for faint-hearted.
