To ask if it's worth going to the Moulin Rouge show in Paris

Just planning a very touristy weekend in a Paris and looking at tickets for the 11pm show at the Moulin Rouge.

It's over £100 each so I just wondered if it was worth seeing.

I've read reviews online and they're are varied!

Is it a tourist cliche or worth seeing?

Also, I know the seats don't get allocated until the day but dies booking your ticket early get you a better seat allocation?

I went a few years ago as a friends siblings worked there. Had we paid the asking price I would have been a bit disappointed, in my opinion there are much better cabarets in Paris (the lido was my favourite although not sure how the price compared, I imagine it’s more expensive as the whole thing seemed more put together and the acts were better imo). The whole thing seemed a bit gimicky. Not a terrible show (although I wasn’t expecting quite so many topless dancers) and worth a watch if you can spare the money, but there are better uses of £100 in paris

A long time since I went with Dsis (about 17 years) but we thought it was fab. They did come round taking pics then charged us a fortune for them though but we were glad we went.

We've been to the Lido but not Moulin Rouge and it was quite entertaining. Would I go back? No.

We won a trip to Paris inc tickets to the Moulin Rouge a few years ago.
The show was good, although felt a bit same-y after a while. Even DH was a bit "oh look. Another pair of tits. Meh" and amused himself by working out which dancer was which by their moles etc. Nice food, but it felt like we were at a cattle market. Jammed in so you could barely move your elbows to eat, and hurried out at the end with the next sitting all queued up ready to go in.
As a PP, nice experience but I wouldn't do it again and glad I didn't pay the ticket price. £100pp is steep IMO.

I went to Paris a while ago and went to crazy horse which was good! I wish I'd have gone to moulin rouge as well just to say I'd been and seen it really! X

£100 each is just for the show, not with dinner.

I think there are probably better places to eat in Paris but do quite fancy the show.

U.K. Musicals / shows are £100 each for decent seats so I'm not adverse to paying that price, it's more whether it's a good show or not.

I recommend Le Lido over Moulin Rouge tbh. I think Moulin Rouge is great to see just so you can say you've seen it. The show is good, not amazing and a bit repetitive imo. Plus you are packed in like sardines, not a pleasant dining experience. Le Lido I found much better. Better show and better food and more space. There was also one that didn't attract many tourists (about four years ago, may be different now), I think it was called Paradis Latin and it was family run. The show was a bit cheesy and over the top but was great fun and I really enjoyed it. The food was fantastic too. We paid around £80 for show + dinner.

Moulinrougeornot · 14/07/2018 19:10

Thanks for the reply.

I don't want to book the dinner as I'd rather eat elsewhere - it's just the show I'm thinking of so now wondering whether to go for Moulin Rouge, Lido or neither.

Absolute tourist trap to be avoided at all costs
