I’ve had enough of pads and tampons. I think I’m allergic, I always get an itchy rash using them (especially pads).

Thinking of switching to a cup, but it’s all so confusing... I’m 32 with no kids at present so confused on the size to buy / the brand.

Would love personal recommendations! Thank you. Smile

If a mooncup, I would get the smaller size unless you are fairly overweight. I’ve always been the bigger one, started using it at 32, after one kid, am a bit overweight. It will take some getting used to putting it in and taking it out, but it’s still better than using tampons or disposable pads. Don’t be afraid to trim the stem. I cut mine off completely.

Also I would consider cloth pads as well. They’re great and I actually prefer them to mooncup, which I only use on the heaviest days.

Try a Meluna. There's a handy questionnaire on the website that helps get the right one for you.

Don't have any useful advice as I can't use them myself, sorry - just wanted to say that your title made me laugh Smile

Definitely go for it. I was feeling ill during and after every period, so glad I made the switch. Wish I'd done it years ago. You might need to persevere to find the right fit. I found the mooncup too firm, I got a soft one, can't remember the brand sorry. I watched a few YouTube reviews that was helpful.

I have a juju and it's awesome! It does take some time to figure out how to position it properly. I had a flood once when it didn't unfold properly. When I use it in combination with thinx pants I feel like I'm not having a period.
There should be info on size on the company website.

To start I'd recommend a MoonCup in smaller size unless you have very heavy periods or a very low cervix.

If you go with MoonCup, you can cut the stem partially or completely off once you're confident.

Be careful with MeLunas, they come in a few versions with different firmness and different pulls: tail, ring and ball - the ring is IMO best.
MeLuna Classic feels much flimsier and softer than a MoonCup and doesn't spring back to shape as easily which may make it harder to start because if the cup stays folded, it will leak.
I heard MeLuna Sport has similar firmness to MoonCup but haven't tried it myself.
MeLuna size M has roughly the same capacity as the small MoonCup and goes up to XL.
MeLuna has a special "shorty" version vor low cervix.

For me the cups have a quite significant pain reduction effect, especially the MoonCup.

Good luck!

Mooncups are great. Do it.

The fairly solid mooncup is quite hard to get up there when you're not used to it though. First couple of periods were rough (though definitely over more quickly and less painful in terms of cramping than anything I'd ever had previously). Possibly worth trying something softer and smaller first, which you ca then save for a spare/ light flow days. People do seem to have wildly different cervical heights though, as unlike the pp I find the mooncup stem far too short and have to go fishing for it. Sckoon cups have quite long stems, but are very soft so pretty difficult to get them to open correctly and then they leak.

I’ve used the Mooncup and loved it. I tried the Lunette which I didn’t like - found it leaked? Could’ve been user error.

I’ve now bought another Mooncup, but haven’t had a period since having dc2, as I’m still feeding him. So can’t report back! Hopefully it will be as good as I remember.

I use a mixture of menstrual cup and cloth pads/panty liners and i think theyre great. Cloth pads are so much nicer than disposable ones
