To wonder if it’s normal to have nothing left after twelve days into the month

This is the position I find myself in every month.

It drives me mad.

Is anyone the same?

It’s possible .
Xmas
Holidays
Car breaks
Boiler breaks

So yeah a few times

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 12/07/2018 06:36

Every month is different for me. I usually have a harder time in March and April because the hours are less, July because I get all the school stuff so there’s no mad rush before September and also it’s dd birthday in September. Then September but purely because we go on holiday the same week every year and having missed time off work I have less money. (Holiday pay is paid different to other plac3s)
January usually makes me feel like a millionaire 🤣🤣

Sounds like you have made a lifestyle choice to live away from home part time but keep the flat at weekends. That is your choice but comes with a cost.

Don't want to be short of money? Live away permanently and rent the flat out.

NerrSnerr · 12/07/2018 06:54

Why do you need it at weekends? You clearly can't afford to be living in two houses so you'll have to somehow get that down to one.

Yokatsu · 12/07/2018 06:59

You can't really afford your life style. Running two homes is expensive. You need to change else you are going to be poor

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/07/2018 06:59

A gas check is less than £100. An electrical check isn’t double that on a 2 bed for example.

You run a flat but can’t afford £250. If you went through an agent and it rented quickly (ie out it on st s competetivr price) you’d probably get away with deducting these expenses off the first months rent. Or does it need electrical work?

Who owns the other where in your flat? Why do you need to return home every weekend?

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/07/2018 07:00

Strange autocorrect: who owns the other share I. You property?

LellyMcKelly · 12/07/2018 07:03

You’re running two homes. That’s why you’re out of money by the 12th.

Limpopobongo · 12/07/2018 07:09

Dont worry too much about it. You are not on your own.

There is an awful lot of Fur coat,no knickers culture about and all is not what it seems. This country and many people in it, is riven with debt.

sparkleandsunshine · 12/07/2018 07:12

it feels like that here sometimes! We budget pretty hard, and our month fits our money with about £30 left over but that is with no luxuries, so a couple of cheap takeaways and there’s nothing left. It’s hard because everyone our friends all have a lot more than us, but we chose to have a baby, buy a bigger house and me only work 2 days a week, and it’s worth it to us, not saying it’s easy all the time though!

Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:19

It isn’t mummy as there is some work that needs doing but even so, no, tbh, I can’t afford £250.

Thanks Smile

FatCow2018 · 12/07/2018 07:22

If you weren't forking out travel costs of course you could afford £250 Hmm

NerrSnerr · 12/07/2018 07:25

But why do you need two homes? It clearly isn't sustainable.

Littleredboat · 12/07/2018 07:26

Your thinking is very strange around the flat.
Who owns the other share?

Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:26

No I know fatcow, but if I wasn’t travelling I wouldn’t be working, so I couldn’t afford the 250 anyway. In any case it’s more like £2500.

OP posts:
Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:26

Does it make a difference who else owns it?

OP posts:
VickieCherry · 12/07/2018 07:29

We are lucky enough to have some left to save at the end of most months, but we couldn't possibly afford to run two houses. I doubt many could. Plenty of people are left with nothing by the middle of the month without double housing and huge travel costs.

Your situation is quite easily resolved - you need to move to where you work.

OliviaStabler · 12/07/2018 07:30

No I know fatcow, but if I wasn’t travelling I wouldn’t be working, so I couldn’t afford the 250

Then don't travel home for a few weeks and you'll have the £250.

Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:31

Okay, so I should sleep in my car for the weekend? Confused

OP posts:
clarrylove · 12/07/2018 07:31

Sell the flat and rent/buy near your place if work.

Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:31

And (third time)

It’s more like 2500 than 250!

OP posts:
NerrSnerr · 12/07/2018 07:31

Why are you answering why you need to come back to the flat at weekends? Why not live where the job is full time?

NerrSnerr · 12/07/2018 07:32

*why are you not answering

Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:33

I know people mean well but the problem is people think they’ve hit on the answer to my problems and they haven’t.

I earn 30,000. I work in central London. I’m trying to find a job out of London but so far have been unsuccessful. I can’t afford to live in central London. So I rent a room Monday to Friday.

I can’t sell my flat as it’s someone else’s too and they don’t want to sell.
Rent it out, possibly, but there are a lot of things it needs and I can’t afford them.
Plus what would I do with all my stuff?

So keep looking for another job is the only answer really.

OP posts:
Daisy9010 · 12/07/2018 07:34

I can’t afford to nerr
