To wTo ask how much you paid for your new kitchen?

I have a Victorian terraced house with a kitchen approx 5m x 4m. It is currently terrible: hideous gas fire & surround, rotted wooden cupboards, bumpy ceiling, vile wallpaper.

Basically how much did you pay for your kitchen, from ripping out the old all the way to lovely and new? Or how much do you guesstimate would be reasonable for me to expect to spend?

Thank you in advance

Ours is 4mx4m. We are knocking down walls to change the shape, putting in new kitchen, moving a downstairs loo and putting in French doors. Costing about 17k.

Smaller, around 5x5m. 13k for Howdens units on 3 walls, replastering and painting back to brickwork, new oven and hob, laminate flooring, new boiler and radiator.

youknowwherethecityis · 11/07/2018 22:22

Ours is a bit smaller than yours (3.5m x 4.5m).
Cost just over £20k but all plumbing needed moving, door moving and new smaller window.
We used a kitchen broker who was great and recommended the showroom we went with.

I kind of agree with a PPs comments about Agas. We have one that we inherited from the previous owners. Although there are lots of bonuses to it, such as we didn't to heat one end of the house separately over the winter time, you do need to be super organised with one, to make sure it's up to heat when you need it and not idling away in slumber mode.

Just after we moved house, I went to an aga demonstration at one of their showrooms. Every other person in the room, including the demonstrator had bandaged hands from Aga burnsShock

@ladyduplo - Tell them you’ve got a budget of £X, and if they can’t do that you’ll go to Y competitor! All the sales people in the main kitchen companies work on commission, so they don’t want to lose a sale. Manager has never said no to authorising deduction as they have targets to meet too. It’s currently a buyer’s market in large household/renovation purchases as they are classed as luxuries and people are cutting back due to the current economic climate Smile Wink
