AIBU to think 5 weeks is a long time to still not have heard back about a voluntary role?

Just as the title says really! I've applied for an hour a week voluntary role in the public sector. Their website still says they are looking for people. I have sent one email to see if there is any news but am not hounding them as I appreciate people are busy.

Should I wait it out, or does this sound like a lost cause?

Wait (if you want the role and are happy too, look elsewhere if you'd rather)

Taking on volunteers is a much bigger undertaking than it looks from the outside, as well as which it tends to be last on the list of priorities. It may well be that something more pressing has come up meantime, and they will get back to volunteer recruitment as soon as they can.

I suppose it depends on the institution. For my volunteering role, I was interviewed immediately applied, and agreed a start date at the interview, subject to a dbs check.

I'd hound a bit,in fact I just have and been successful

It depends on what the role is for. Do they have to run any security/police checks on your for the role? These can take a while to come through.

No, no checks. It's a fairly big standard administrative role but obviously they'll need to train me in what to do.
