To find it mildly annoying that 5p bags are disappearing?

Just that really.

I don't have an issue with the bag charge, I think it's good to encourage people to use them less.

I don't take plastic bags to the supermarket because I have a backpack that I use but sometimes I like to buy a few because they do come in handy for 'stuff' like lining small bathroom bins, separating wet swimming stuff, things like that.

But virtually every supermarket around here doesn't seem to have them anymore! They have replaced them all with massive, thick 10p bag for life types which are not so good for certain tasks.

Aibu to wish they would just keep both types so we can choose?

I've stopped using bin liners altogether. My kitchen bin gets emptied straight into the wheelie bin and it takes a minute or two to wash it thoroughly with boiling water and a bit of disinfectant.Same with the bathroom bins.I don't need sanitary products anymore so nothing wrong with putting our rubbish straight in an unlined bin. It's crazy how packaging and use of plastics has exploded in the last few decades.

Yabu I don't think mild inconveniences trump the planet. There are loads of easy ways to manage. I don't use bin liners in my small bins at all, just wash them if they get dirty.

It is incredible how we have got used to single use items. I never use kitchen paper - I use cloths usually made from old clothes, but friends can't get their heads round it. I use containers instead of cling film etc.
Things like handwash and shower gel were unusual in the 1970s and 80s when I was a kid but now they're 'essential'.
All the chemicals in them!

Those bags for life generally have no gusset and don’t hold as much as the 5p bags. And are more awkward to carry.

Buy some IKEA Ziploc bags. The big ones are great for wet swimming things etc. I re-use mine so probably chuck only a few a year.

Bins don't get much mess in them: fruit cores etc go in the compost bin, recycling in there....there's only some wrappers going in our room bins?

Co-op have introduced a 6p bag that bio compostable, similar to the compost bags on a roll but bigger and stronger.

The only think is you have to ask for them. They appear to be kept out of sight under the counter. M

They are very good bags for a single use. And by the time you have deducted the cost of a roll of the green compost caddy bags they work out very cheap if not free.
