Who's going to build a bear tomorrow?

I was wondering who's planning on going to build a bear tomorrow? I want to go, my LO is 11 months old. Thinking it's going to be rammed, which I absolutely hate. I was planning on getting there as soon as it opens. But I was just curious on if other people were planning on going to their local store.

Who's going to build a bear tomorrow?

I wanted to take my kids to this but it'd be cheaper to order the bears online at full price than it would be to travel to Glasgow (nearest one)

ChikiTIKI · 11/07/2018 12:44

I think were going to try and go to the Bristol one since it's far out of town and right by the motorway :D so only a small detour on our road trip.

How to we show our membership to the Bonus Club? I've written down my membership number, is that enough? I don't have a smart phone...

DailyMailFail101 · 11/07/2018 12:49

I reckon it’s going to be rammed first thing in the morning with toddlers and little ones i think the quietest time will be about 3pm when everybody goes to collect the older children and the toddlers will be napping (hopefully)

MsHopey · 11/07/2018 12:49

I'm hoping it written down is enough. Or maybe they ask for your email address.
Starting to feel very lucky that my local BAB is only a ten minute drive away.

I’m taking baby DS in the morning...will only have 1.5hrs as have to meet friends for lunch in the park before a baby class so keeping everything crossed that will be long enough to get one or it’ll be a long wasted drive!

ChikiTIKI · 11/07/2018 13:04

Ive just checked and you can sign up in store, so can be done again if there's a problem I suppose.

I probably seem way over excited about this but my husband took me there and bought me a bear on one of our first dates 11 years + a few days ago (after we saw a Harry Potter film!) and I still cuddle that bear every night to this day! My baby won't have the same emotional attachment to her bear I am sure. :)

MsHopey · 11/07/2018 13:06

@ChikiTIKI
That's lovely. I've never been, the prices have always made me change my mind! Not tomorrow though. I am dreading the crowds but I haven't got any other plans so I can stay until I get LOs bear.

Haha, @AlphaBravo!

A thread on mumsnet isn't going to make a whole lot of difference. No, it wouldn't have been nice and quiet! What a joke.

I think I'll stay away, though; BAB is hell at the best of times.

ChikiTIKI · 11/07/2018 13:14

Aww good luck!! Hope it's a calm quick shopping trip for you. Post a pic of your bear if you get one?! I will do the same :)

blackbirdbluebottle · 11/07/2018 13:15

I’m not but aim to get there just before it opens and research the most expensive type of bears to get your monies worth. Will they ask for proof your child isn't 1 and how much would you pay for 11 months?

Slimtimeagain · 11/07/2018 13:18

I want to do it but I look after children from different families so would be mean to only get one for one of them!

MsHopey · 11/07/2018 13:22

@blackbirdbluebottle
It's £1 for one year olds and under. So it's only £1 even if they think he's one. They said you don't need to bring proof of age, so I think they're just trusting people to be honest.

You can get a bear for as many children are present with you.
If you've got 3 Kids with you, they all have a bear for the price of their age.

OP posts:
blackbirdbluebottle · 11/07/2018 13:23

Ooh I bet that’s gonna cost them a lot! Make sure you find out which is the most expensive bear!

5foot5 · 11/07/2018 13:23

Bugger that I am 56 next birthday

Slimtimeagain · 11/07/2018 13:58

Is that right mshopey ?!?!?! I thought it said 1 per customer?!

User467 · 11/07/2018 14:03

I phoned our local store to check their closing time and they said they're anticipating 2-3 hr queues so although they are open until 9 there will be a cut off of when you can joint the queue. Think I'll give it a miss!

SilverySurfer · 11/07/2018 14:16

Awwlookatmybabyspider
I'd have to take out a second mortgage if I paid my age.grin

They won't give me a mortgage at my age so having to sell the house lol Grin

MsHopey · 11/07/2018 15:22

@Slimtimeagain pretty sure it's 1 per guest with you. But they must be present. So you could take a school class of 30 and they could all get a bear.
Good job I'm not doing anything tomorrow other than build a bear if I'm gonna be there a couple hours.

Enidblyton1 · 11/07/2018 15:34

Last time I took my DD to BaB the bear only cost £10, but the accessories were £20...
This is a great marketing technique.

CanaBanana · 11/07/2018 15:44

I'm going to take DS at opening time but planning to walk away if the queue is horrendous.

Is it ANY Bear or only certain ones? As the bears vary drastically in price!

MsHopey · 11/07/2018 15:52

This is all it says about the bear you can choose. I have my eye on one and I'm hoping it's included.

OP posts:
Slimtimeagain · 11/07/2018 22:27

Praying that isn't the same as my local one!

Anon12345ABC · 11/07/2018 22:43

Thanks for this OP. I hadn't heard of it. Hoping I can get a MLP for £7!

IceRebel · 12/07/2018 10:28

Well the event seems to have been a bit of a failure. it's not even 10.30 and they've already had to cancel. Taken from the build a bear facebook page

"Due to extreme crowds at our Meadowhall location, we have exceeded capacity and the store will be closed for the remainder of the day. Please note: all stores in the U.K. are reporting similar crowds and lines, and they can no longer accept additional Guests for this event. The response to our Pay Your Age Day event has been overwhelming and unprecedented. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding at this time."
