Chatting to my DD at bedtime tonight and she mentioned that they had another lesson on puberty today. Apparently the TA suggested that the girls might want to have a look at their vaginas with a mirror.

One of the girls said that she had never looked at hers.

DD said 'It's okay that I told everyone that you look at yours isn't it mummy?'

The occasion she is referring to is when I was first using a mooncup and I used a mirror to check and she walked in on me.

Apparently the TA said 'See needmoresleepnow's mum looks at her vagina in the mirror'

The TA will have shared that story with the staff room won't she?

I'm going to have to change schools aren't I?

Here's my best one when I was little and we had to write what we did at Christmas
"Dad was in the pub as usual and mum fed us scraps"

Translates to "dad was running the pub, and mum treated us to m&s buffet food which is now forever known as scraps..."

needmoresleepnow · 11/07/2018 12:29

Managed to drop her off without seeing the TA today and she's at after school childcare today so I'm hoping come Thursday when I see the TA she will have forgotten allllllllll about it hopeful face

I saw a programme last night about people signing up to move to Mars. Just saying.

Dd is 7 and caused much amusement in school the other day by saying that something was "fannytastic"

It was not meant to come out like that Grin

Went into my 7 year olds bedroom one day to find her naked, lying on the floor in front of her mirrored wardrobes inspecting herself. She nonchalantly told me she was just ‘seeing what my bottom looks like’. Fair enough. Left her to it and chatted about it later. I hope I hid my surprise well enough.

I believe there are witness protection schemes for this kind of thing Grin

(For real though, congratulations on your part in normalising this for kids - much as you wouldn't have chosen to, you might involuntarily be the cause of them having a healthier attitude about their bodies in future...!)

This is one of the few threads that made me actually hoot with laughter.

It’s nice to hear kids being taught about puberty properly.

blackbirdbluebottle · 11/07/2018 13:01

Oh wow that's so embarrassing! I don’t think you should keep her off, I think it's a good idea looking at the bits, anyone else see Orange is the new black where no one had an idea where they peed from? It's a good idea to have a look and for the TA to say how everyone looks different down there. So many people getting cosmetic operations down there cause they don’t look right. I’m so glad the school has better sex ed than what we had!

Received her school report today and it says that she 'has shown an enthusiasm for all the topics we have studied this year and often shares facts about what she has found out through her independent research'

On the plus side, at the school Xmas party you'll now be on the list of parents allowed access to the secret gin store! GrinGin

Putmedownforanap · 13/07/2018 11:22

I love this thread and everything about it! It's funny, it's sweet and your daughter sounds awesome!

Though of course emergency emigration and home-schooling are now your only option.

needmoresleepnow · 13/07/2018 12:14

I think she is pretty awesome too Grin inbetween her sharing of 'independent' research!

Not a story you’ll be sharing at her wedding then?
