To be pissed off at DH turning my music off?

DH invited some family members over for a barbecue this afternoon. He went out to the cinema with DS2 this morning so I spent the time tidying, cleaning, vacuuming etc. while looking after our other DCs. I recently invested in a pair of Bluetooth stereo speakers so I set them up I the garden with some music playing as DH was only due back 10 minutes before our guests arrived so he wouldn't have much time to prepare.

While the barbecue was underway I took DS4 inside to use the potty (he's toilet training and still needs some help with his clothes.) When I came back outside DH had turned off my music and brought out his own Bluetooth speaker and iPod. He said he wasn't keen on the music I had put on (Back in Black by Amy Winehouse.) My phone has a fair selection of albums on it and access to Amazon Music. AIBU to think that he could have simply chosen a different album on the already set up equipment rather than overruling me by getting an additional speaker out?

It all sounds very silly

Stoveding · 08/07/2018 19:31

Music in the garden? Have you got a tin hat on?

Emma198 · 08/07/2018 19:33

Bit of a fuss about nothing unless it's just the latest example of similar things.

PersonalityLines · 08/07/2018 19:37

My partner does this too. And changes the radio while I'm driving too. I hate it.

PerfectSunflowers · 08/07/2018 19:39

🙄

StuntNun · 08/07/2018 19:39

It wasn't very loud Pineapple and we have very noisy neighbours - shouty young children on one side and shouty adults on the other side - so it's best to have a bit of background noise when we're in the garden.

DH has had a Bluetooth speaker for year and I have only just got mine so maybe I stepped on his toe since historically he has been the only one able to play music in the garden.

Sorry for the typos, my keyboard is a bit crap.

Back to Black sounds a bit maudlin for a fun, sunny Sunday family backyard barbecue.

StuntNun · 08/07/2018 21:18

I would have been fine with him changing the music. It was bringing out a new sound system that annoyed me.

He was right, Amy Winehouse's music isn't for fun bbq time.

annandale · 08/07/2018 21:25

I feel you a little because it does sound a bit 'clear away the gynospeaker so that the powerful MAN SPEAKER can be heard' but i honestly think you are overreacting. He might not have wanted to risk changing anything on your equipment?

One of the silver linings of being single is listening to what I like. Not at a barbecue though.

User467 · 08/07/2018 21:26

Hardly a new sound system. Maybe it was just quicker to use one his phone was synced to? Seems like a really minor issue to get annoyed about

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 08/07/2018 21:36

Are Ms. Winehouse's lyrics the best thing to be playing with children present? "Mummy, what does 'kept his dick wet' mean?"

mickeysminnie · 08/07/2018 21:51

I would be more annoyed that HE invited people and then left all the tidying and organising to you!

StuntNun · 09/07/2018 07:05

I still think it's weird. It's the sort of thing my teenagers do to each other.

YANBU.

You did all the work and he just cleared away part of what you’d set up so that he could control the entertainment. That’s rude and thoughtless.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 09/07/2018 07:19

YANBU, he should have mentioned he wanted to change it.
