Selling gifts - WIBU?

So I’m skint, recently single parent. Have bills to pay and rent I can’t afford.

I’m going through stuff I can sell on our local fb group. I have a coffee machine that was gifted to me by friends for my birthday, I never use it now and can’t afford the coffee for it anyway! Can I sell it?

Also going through my dc’s stuff and lots of it was handed down to me or gifted (from new) wibu to sell it?

If I didn’t need the cash I would gift it on.

Would you be offended if someone was selling stuff you gifted?

I'd do it, but not somewhere they could potentially see it.

Mumao · 08/07/2018 11:02

They will see it... there is nowhere I can post without them seeing it!

Ebay?

I think if they can see it then maybe explain first that you're struggling for money and ask them if they mind you selling the items. Good friends won't mind at all.

If the clothes were handed down to you you might be being unreasonable to sell on to keep the profit (after all, they could've done that and kept the profits).

Clothes as gifts are fine to sell.

@passthecake... yes, I am going to hand down the stuff that I know was handed down, but I can’t remember everything that was!

Gumtree or eBay rather than FB. Somewhere they can't immediately connect it to you. But also, I'd just have a quiet word and let your friends know you're having to sell stuff to make ends meet at the moment, so if anyone does spot something they gave you they'll understand why.
