To wonder why cinemas haven't done this yet?

So we all know how expensive it is to go to the cinema now.

most cinemas offer the limitless card for approx £17.99 per month- min age 16- why have cinemas not brought out a limitless family card as yet.

Am sure they'd be very popular!

I thought you were gonna say show World Cup games!

Birdsgottafly · 08/07/2018 00:47

Because people will spend to take their children, but cut down for themselves.

So they know they don't have to offer a reduced price.

French2019 · 08/07/2018 00:51

I always wonder who buys those unlimited cards. I'd have to go to the cinema at least four times a month to get any benefit. There aren't that many films that I even want to see!

bruffin · 08/07/2018 00:55

You only have to go twice a month to get value where we are. I know cardiff is really cheap compared to enfield or stevenage.
Dh and Ds have cards and we also have meerkatmovies so i can go once a week with dh for nothing.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 08/07/2018 00:56

I’ve got an unlimited card.

I get the benefit. It’s the price of twice a month and any more free.

I reap the benefits more in the winter, as the summer blockbusters do nothing for me and I don’t go to kids films

The family card would itself be extortion four times the cost of a regular one, no?

unicorn56 · 08/07/2018 01:02

Where I live I need to go 1.5 times a month for it to be worth it.

I know people whos children (under 16) have unlimited cards (with cineworld) so don't believe they have an age limit.

I don't think its really worth it untill your kids get to about 9ish and are old enough to go to 12As, there simply isn't enough PG movies to make it worth it for really young kids!

VimFuego101 · 08/07/2018 01:14

I agree, just not enough kids films to make it worthwhile. I could happily use one of the unlimited passes myself but only take DS once a month as there aren't that many films suitable for children.

Aquamarine1029 · 08/07/2018 01:56

I don't understand why they haven't made new releases available for streaming at home. I hate going to the cinema.

SachaStark · 08/07/2018 02:39

Isn't it because cinemas still rent film reels of new releases from the distributors? So the film hasn't been formatted for streaming yet?

fieryginger · 08/07/2018 03:49

Our local cinema is over £11 for one movie! It would be worth getting a cinema pass, however, I've been in the National Trust for ten years and don't use that as much as we should.

ragged · 08/07/2018 04:27

We wouldn't want to go more than once a year so no benefits to be had.

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 08/07/2018 07:24

I guess I'm asking as where I live it's £12 for an adult ticket and £9. for a child's ticket which makes me really weigh up what he watches and sometimes waiting for films to be on at the kids Sunday movie cheaper time or doing the meerkat movies in the half term, not at the same price as the adults at £17.99 but I would've thought say a £25 child n adult cinema pass be appealling and would increase cinema attendance I'm sure I'm not the only one that just refuses to regularly pay £21 just to watch a film never mind the snacks etc

OP posts:
bruffin · 08/07/2018 08:06

Pay the £17.99 buy 1 day holiday insurance with compare the meerkat, then you get to take someone for free on a Tuesday or wednesday.
Or move to Cardiff where Cineworld ony charge £5,50 for a ticket

ForalltheSaints · 08/07/2018 08:25

I have a choice of cinemas (very fortunate I feel) and so a card for just one would not be worthwhile.

malmi · 08/07/2018 08:48

Sachastark, there are no reels of film. It's all digital.

Films are released in cinema first as people will still pay a premium to see it on a big screen when its first released, but not if they can stream it for pennies.

madmother1 · 08/07/2018 08:49

Save up your Tesco vouchers and go to the cinema for free!

Nixen · 08/07/2018 08:50

@leccybill showcase cinemas are showing the World Cup - and for free! Just need to book ahead of time

ragged · 08/07/2018 09:09

We don't have a Tesco handy so no vouchers feasible.
We paid £90 to take 6 people to cinema (one trip) last year. It's a kind of "over my dead body" prospect now, at least main venues. There are still some local venues that are about £4/head, but the snacks still a stupid price (and not exactly healthy options). So very unappealing over all.

kello · 08/07/2018 09:12

We usually wait till films are released as movies for juniors at cineworld and I take 3 children plus me for about £10 all in.

In Hull at least 2 cinema she are £4.99 any day (Vue is £3.99 on a Monday), we have Meerkat Movies so on a Tuesday/Wednesday it's pretty reasonable for 2 of us to go. We just take our own sweets & bottles of water with us.

thelastredwinegum · 08/07/2018 09:28

^cinemas are, not cinema she 🤦🏻‍♀️

Most days there are plenty of people in there, I hope they carry on with it because we definitely go more regularly now they've reduced the prices.

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 08/07/2018 14:13

I know Kello I do that too just wanted to moan about the price of it all. Thanks for tip re tesco vouchers that's news to me
