To refuse to cook dinner until DS starts to go to sleep earlier...?

DS (14mo) has a tendency to not want to go to bed... it can sometimes get to 11pm before we've managed to settle him. We are trying to resolve this but in the meantime there is another issue. If both DP and I have been working and DC's have eaten at nursery we don't usually eat until early evening... the problem is that despite making lovely dinners, we haven't been able to enjoy it in months due to DS making a fuss and wanting me.... I usually get fed up and it goes in the bin. I'm sick of putting effort in and I'm tempted to refuse to make proper dinners until DS starts to go to bed earlier. AIBU?

Sleep train or suffer.

can't you just take it in turns to eat? DH holds the baby while you eat and vice versa. If he cries for ten minutes with your DH it's not the end of the world.

cook things that can be reheated.

Just eat with him awake?

My 1.5 yr old goes to sleep around 10-11 wakes at 6 and feeds about every 1.5 hrs for 20 mins. We either all eat together or she plays nearby whilst we eat.

Just crack on and eat and he’ll have to play or put up with dad!

Good luck, it does pass x
