To get 6 year old involved with volunteering

Would it be unreasonable?

I would really like to instill in him good morals and to be grateful for what he has. But, where do I start, what volunteering work could I get him to do, that I'd do with him.

Is it a bad idea

I do litter picking with my two - age three and seven. There are lots of groups all over the country. Search on Facebook if you have an account.

Also - for realising how fortunate he is - do you donate old toys and clothes to refuges etc? I just talk about that. We also give toys to local hospital.

No harm in it my DS aged 8 has been helping me for a few years. We back rucksacks to give out to the homeless at Christmas full of toiletries, food, blankets etc. We walk dogs for a rescue centre. We foster rabbits until they find their new homes.

Yea we donate and we put stuff up on free cycle and we talk about why we do it, especially his old clothes too. I live in London so litter picking is a very good idea

Beach or woodland clean-ups are definitely a good place to start. Usually it's tough to find ongoing placements for someone under 16 but a sponsored walk is another way to support a charity or good cause with your efforts. Mine did a sponsored walk aged about 7 and 9 and got a lot out of it. I was going through a try-hard phase so even made a picnic themed on the country we would be sending the funds to.

Litter picks, shoebox appeals.

Get him to come up with his own fundraising ideas and pick his own charity to support.
