To think they should be more worried

My 9mo old ds is sleeping 11-12 hours at night (wakes up for feeds twice) and 6-7 hours in the day. Every time I speak to a doctor they brush it off and say its nothing to worry about. It's not a case of just cutting his naps because I've tried and he needs all the sleep he gets. It worries me a lot as I think there cold be an underlying issue but don't want to push as they seem to think it's perfectly normal. Aibu to think this should be a concern? Is anyone else's child the same? I'll also add that its definitely not anemia as he had his bloods tested for an unrelated issue

Sounds like he just likes sleep? The heat is probably exhausting him. Is he fairly active when he's awake?

Is he active when awake?

Keep a diary of every sleep/wake period. Your go will take your concerns more seriously if you have a record of his patterns.

Is this a new thing or has he always slept like this? It does sound a lot of sleeping though so I would keep a record.

At that age my DD used to sleep from about 6.30pm till 7/7.30am and then have two 2 hour naps in the day too. Some babies like sleep. She is 18 months now and still sleeps for 12/13 hours at night and a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. If she doesnt have all that sleep shes cranky. I wouldn't worry personally.

Unless ofcourse you have any other reasons to worry, is he hitting all his milestones etc?

badatusernames · 06/07/2018 13:55

He's hitting all his milestones fine, is active when awake and yes he's always been like this. Maybe he is just lazy? I just thought that 6/7 hours of awake time at this age was a cause for concern
