Mat leave and taking in neighbours delivery's

Just started mat leave and waiting for
baby.

Over the last week every day I've had loads of delivery drivers turn up asking me to take in parcels for our neighbours.

I usually don't mind but one of them didn't collect four days and it was a huge box blocking most of our door way. They apologised and said they went away for a few days. Fine.. I've had my own delivery's for the baby so the box was a pain in the arse to negotiate around.

Another had an amazon parcel delivered yesterday and the CF was banging on my door at 10pm last night just as I started dozing to sleep. I was so annoyed I didn't answer the door so they can just come back today.

Another delivery driver just turned up with an outer of wine for next door. Asked if I would take it in, fed up I said "I'm going out I won't be in" driver got arsey with me and said "well they won't get it until Monday then and I'll probably have to ask you to take it again" I said "right fine" so he just leaves this huge heavy box on the door step that I've had to drag in.

Arghh!

@NotUmbongoUnchained does your neighbour bang on your door at 10pm or do they call at a reasonable hour? I'm guessing the latter.

My apologies for being so bloody "miserable" at 36 pregnant and having just drifted off to sleep. I'll answer the door and and do a little curtsy next time.

79andnotout. I don’t think it’s anything to do with village life Vs town or city life I think it just depends on your neighbours.

I’ve got truly lovely neighbours and we are all happy to help each other out but nobody takes the piss either.

If you think its bad now imagine when the baby is here and you finally get him/her to sleep and BAM the doorbell/knocker goes.

Nip this in the bud now. Install a sign above the bell/knocker that says sleeping baby and not to ring the bell or use the door knocker or make any loud noise. If u come face to face with another amazon delivery guy just say sorry this is the last time and unless its for me im not taking it.

Let your neighbours know that you cant keep dragging yourself to the door when you need to rest.

Just say no.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 06/07/2018 17:37

Yes, sometimes we’re not home till 10pm.
And yes, sometimes when I was pregnant they would come over. You’re pregnant, not dying.

BunsOfAnarchy · 06/07/2018 17:39

Also @NotUmbongoUnchained i think you are being horribly unfair here. I too dont mind taking parcels but its a complete different kettle of fish when you're heavily pregnant and/or when you have a newborn.

I just say no. It really isnt difficult. I got fed up of neighbours not collecting. I had a neighbour knock the other day asking for her parcel that I hadnt even taken in! but for some bizarre reason the delivery driver put my door number on Hmm felt like she thought I was lying. Seriously annoying!
