Have a huge design flaw or is it just my flaps that get pinched by the applicator ?

Is that she he lasting one? I’ve never used this hen because of the nip potential.
They will be banned soon though won’t they? Like plastic cotton buds.

LJD2 · 06/07/2018 12:56

I had no idea they make plastic applicators, that is awful! Someone should really make a petition about that. How irresponsible body form

fieryginger · 06/07/2018 13:01

You are right. I had a hysterectomy a few months after they were released and I thought the same as well. Wasted many of them. The other pearl design, that didn't split into two, was great.

CoraPirbright · 06/07/2018 13:01

I am flabbergasted that these were allowed to be marketed or that someone at Tampax thought they were a good idea! Single use plastic when the cardboard ones are perfectly fine. Environmentally criminal imo. They should be completely banned.

NastyCats · 06/07/2018 13:35

Yes, agree with the nasty sharp plastic and the huge plastic wastage. I wish I could have got the hang of non-applicator ones but I really couldn't - I just felt uncomfortable all the time.

notfromstepford · 06/07/2018 13:40

You're not on your own - they are shit and hurt. And more often than not, they don't push the tampon out - they just go back to where they were. I got through the 2 boxes that I'd bought when on offer and would never buy them again.

dontbesillyhenry · 07/07/2018 10:42

I can never grab the cardboard ones it goes all slippy I end up having to make a flap in it to grab hold of it to push it in/ oh the tampon related dramas! Could never use non applicators as my flow is too heavy and my hands would be messy

OP posts:
MyDogNeedsaLawyer · 07/07/2018 10:47

Yes they pinch.

They are appallingly wasteful - single use plastic that ends up getting flushed down the loo and ends up all over beaches.

Non-applicator tampons all the way for me - my flow is heavy too... I wipe my hand with a tissue, and then wash my hands... it's pretty simple.

pombal · 07/07/2018 10:48

What are the benefits of the applicator?

Is it just so you don’t have to use your finger or does it have some sort of optimal positioning advantage?

ohdearnotmyproblem · 07/07/2018 10:56

I hate cardboard ones but I love the full size pearl and hate the compact pearl.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 07/07/2018 11:08

Awful things. The applicator rarely works properly. I've had to dump loads of them without them actually being used. Waste of money and crap for the environment.

I hope someone from their company reads this thread.

Lalalala3 · 07/07/2018 11:15

single use plastic that ends up getting flushed down the loo and ends up all over beaches.

Who the fuck puts a plastic applicator down the toilet!? I mean I've heard of tampons, but not the applicator! Shock

ohdearnotmyproblem · 07/07/2018 11:25

Deffo shouldnt flush tampons! Bag and bin (I keep cheap nappy sacks for the purpose)

SyrilSneer · 07/07/2018 11:31

If they are banning plastic straws then they need to ban these too.

Lycanthropology · 07/07/2018 11:35

Bag and bin (I keep cheap nappy sacks for the purpose)

So even more unnecessary plastic? Confused just wrap in loo roll and put in the bin!

JennyOnAPlate · 07/07/2018 11:38

I've definitely nipped myself with them before. My periods are too heavy for non applicator...it's ok for at home when there's a sink next to the loo, but doesn't really work when out and about!

Honeyroar · 07/07/2018 11:43

They never release the tampax for me. I hate them, such a waste being plastic and totally not needed - the original cardboard was better in the first place. I use the original.

To whoever asked- I prefer applicators, I never seem to get non applicator tampons where they're comfortable for me, they rotate a bit.

ohdearnotmyproblem · 07/07/2018 11:44

I wouldn't wrap in just loo roll. I use very little plastic (never buy take away coffee, don't use straws, used cloth nappies for all of mine) so I refuse to feel guilty about using the sanitary protection that works for me.

wictional · 07/07/2018 11:46

I prefer the pearl ones for glide, lack of accidental separation of tube, and a generally comfier experience.

I just wish it was better for the environment Sad

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 07/07/2018 11:50

I find non applicators much more comfortable. Applicators seem to aim the tampon right into my cervix. Hmm Those saying they have heavy flow - I just wipe any mess off my hands with toilet roll and it’s not noticible when washing my hands in public.

seventhgonickname · 07/07/2018 11:54

Same problems when I tried them, nipping or coming back out with the applicator. My DD likes an application as she finds it easier by we get cardboard ones.
Are scented tampons now a thing?I get irritation and thrush using the pantiliner god knows what damage a scented tampon could reek.

HappyLollipop · 07/07/2018 11:57

I do like the plastic ones for the glide as I find the cardboard ones harder to insert but I too have pinched myself a few times.

happymummy12345 · 07/07/2018 12:32

I agree I prefer the normal pearl. I only ever get the compak pearl if I can't get the normal ones.

AsleepAllDay · 07/07/2018 12:38

Yup! Also the cardboard applicator sometimes too. The pearl is usually better for being smaller

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 07/07/2018 12:39

I've never nipped myself, but there is just no need for a plastic applicator when a card one does the job.
