[my internet id] you recently viewed the child porn on your system, and the site on which you viewed the porn captured your details. So information about your location (IP Address, Mac address), other sensitive information (browser cookies, social media links, browser history) and your social contacts (facebook friends, email contacts) were collected and sent to my server.

All of these details will be automatically forwarded to the concerned police departments including Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, and FBI exactly 24 hours from now on (I have the special tracking pixel in this email which has been activated right after opening of this email). Believe me, all of the information will be enough to put you behind the bars for the years to come.

However, if you send exactly 0.2 BTC (Bitcoins) to the below address in the next 24 hours, then my servers will automatically delete all of your information and you can continue to live your life.

BTC Address [crazy address which I’m deleting incase anyone follows it]

(It is CaSe sensitive. Copy & Paste)

In case, you do not send the bitcoins, then your data will be automatically forwarded to the above mentioned enforcements agencies.

If you do not know about bitcoins, then just use coinbase, or search google on "How to buy bitcoins".

I’m really fucking angry.

I read this one today from my junk mail box, must be the current scam

Hey! I am from the FBI, and we recently received some sensitive information which proves that at some point in the past you have used your system to access minor pornography content (child porn). I would like to make an offer to you. If you send exactly 0.5 BTC to the below address in the next 24 hours, then I will just get your case erased, nothing will happen to you.

The email actually came through 2 days ago and I haven't sent them any money and nothing has happened to me

Also saying minor pornography content kind of makes it sound like I've been watching a little bit of porn, as opposed major porn, like it was a little fumble or something. Idiots! And I'm sure the fbi always start their emails with a friendly "hey!"

@Sugarfish Grin Grin Grin

How was it signed?

"Hugs n snogs and see ya soon hun,
FBI
xxxx"

Sugarfish · 06/07/2018 02:46

It was signed off with

"This is a one-time non negotiable offer, do not reply to this email"

Like they're offering me a deal on a new sofa!

ItsalmostSummer · 06/07/2018 02:51

Try and approach it like someone is saying to you “hey you are related to someone who died in a plane crash in Africa and you are set to receive £145 million inheritance. It’s basically the same type of email = a scam
What I do is reply back. Say wonderful (or something sarcastic) and just say blah blah blah.l about the weather or who they are - ask them questions... They soon get fed up

ItsalmostSummer · 06/07/2018 02:53

Ps I get you’re angry it’s a sick way to target people, but the whole scam is like the rest of them and they piss me off too.

Sugarfish · 06/07/2018 03:05

I read somewhere that you should never reply to scam texts as they then know your phone is active and will bombard you with more scam texts. I don't know if it's the same with emails so maybe replying isn't the best idea

Saying that though it does look like it can be funny and I've read some brilliant stories online of people stringing along the scammers

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/07/2018 03:06

This appears to be an upgrade on this scam bitcoinwhoswho.com/blog/2018/03/12/bitcoin-blackmail-scam-reports-surge/ which is the one about you watching porn and your friends being sent a video of you doing so.

Dangerous - hope they get this one out into the public domain as a scam very quickly, which you have now helped to do by reporting it, both here and to Action Fraud.

Just had a search on here as I've just received this email.

Thankyou for advice. Reported to action fraud. Horrible!
