Would you try and find this woman?

Gone to pick up from school today, parked my car in car park which is also used for local hall, next to school, usual place everyone parks.

In hall on a Thursday afternoon is an art painting type group.

One of the other school mums came to me to announce she had just witnessed an old lady in a red car and knew the model of car and that she is parked here every week, she had reversed into my car, looked back and then drove off!

My ABIU should I try and find her next Thursday when she is at art class?

Minimal damage to my car btw, still marked and slightly dented though

Any cctv or other proof that she hit your car. I'd be tempted to find her next week if witness also there but expect she will deny it. Are you going to claim on insurance.

GreenMeerkat · 05/07/2018 20:01

Do you want to make an insurance claim?

Catcrazy008 · 05/07/2018 20:33

Trouble is will loose no claim but very cross she didn’t wait 2 min to catch me or leave a note, witness said she knew she hit my car but no attempt to stop.

I would like to speak to her as think it’s wrong to do this to someone’s property

You'll need proof, she will deny it, it's a shitty thing to do, I see it all the time in our local car park, did witness get the reg number. Any flakes of paint on your car. I wonder if her car has got any damage.

Catcrazy008 · 05/07/2018 20:42

Witness didn’t get reg number which is frustrating, no evidence of paint either.

I hope she has damaged her own car , me being a tad petty

I would want to humiliate her and scare her by going into the class and confronting her, telling her I had video evidence.

I probably wouldn't actually do it though, especially as there is minimal damage!

BeansandSausages · 05/07/2018 20:46

Report it and give witness details. I've been a witness before to exactly the same. No other evidence, claim all went through.

If you have to claim yourself yes, you will lose no claims. But if you recover off the the lady who hit you, you won't. With a witness you have a pretty good chance of that.

Even if you don't want to claim I would definitely speak to her to let her know she has done something unacceptable. If she didn't even realise she'd hit something one should question if she should be driving. Yes, I know she turned around, but maybe she wasn't really aware and was wondering what was going on.

This happened to me, man hit my parked car, saw me coming and reversed wrong way up a one way street to get away, luckily someone took ref number down, so I contacted police to report it and then rang my insurance company. He had to go to court got points and fine and his insurance company covered everything. I would ring your insurance company explain what happened and that you will get reg number when you can. Failure to stop and report an accident, however minor is an offence.

BigGrannyPants · 05/07/2018 20:53

Report it to insurers and police. I'd also go to the art class and look at her car to check any damage to it

Or the other mum hit your car and is being very CF...
