Just received something in the post today saying I have to return my P11D by tomorrow.. I have no idea how to fill it out and why it only came today.

Anyone had to do this previously and able to advise?

Hi, my husband is a tax advisor for a large Japanese business.

Not sure if you are an employer or an employee. But employers are required to complete the form P11D for all of their employees receiving taxable benefits which aren't taxed via payroll (for example company cars, bupa cover, etc) and this needs to be completed by 6 July with a copy of each P11D form sent to the employee and HMRC. The employer then has to submit a firm P11D(b) to HMRC.

Employees do not have to complete their own form P11D, the employer should do this. If the employee is required to submit their own tax return the P11D taxable benefit value should be reported on the tax return.

If you have not received any taxable benefits which require reporting on the form P11D an employer is not obliged to provide one I.e. They don't have to send out blank forms.

If you are an employee and you receive such benefits you should receive form P11d for the year ended April 5th 2018 by tomorrow from your employer.

If you left the business more than 3 months ago you will need to request the form from your employer as they are not legally obliged to send these to such employees.

This is something an employer fills in. Do you employ people?

I'm the employee. Thank you! I was starting to worry.

I'm assuming HMRC are asking for this? Strange as they wouldn't ask the employee to to do this
