Advice needed please..my little boy is 13 months old and I'm trying to get rid of the bottles. He will drink water fine out of a sippy cup and will drink milk out of the cup when he is at nursery but for me refuses point blank. I tried going cold turkey 3 days ago and have just gave in. How did you get rid of bottles. Son can't have dairy or soya so struggling with calcium from other sources

I waited until my dd was old enough to be reasoned with. We then talked about bottles being for babies and she chose a new night time cup. She was about 2 i think. One or two bottles of milk per day isnt going to hurt.

My DD is 18m and we still have 3 or 4 for before she goes to sleep, mainly because if it was in her cup she'd make a mess.

DS refused milk from the moment we stopped giving it to him in a bottle at around 18m. The midwife said to expect them to want the bottle up to two years, but I didn't want to wait that long.

No dairy for us either, but most substitute milk is fortified and he still has some formula mixed into his morning breakfast.

Both of mine had bottles up to about 2.

Have you tried a straw?

I had this problem trying to get rid of bottles for my eldest when he was about 2. It was even more difficult as I had a new born. In the end my eldest used a bottle just for milk until he was 3.5yro. It was much longer that I wanted it to be but he wouldn't let then go. When my youngest was 18 months I let them both choose a special cup for their milk before bed and then we all put the bottles in the bin. That way we couldn't go back to using them and they knew the bottles were in the bin
