To be annoyed that I am expected to listen to people talk and talk to me but whenever I say anything their eyes glaze over?

I'm sick of it! I consider myself a good friend and listen to friends endlessly talking about themselves, their children, their problems etc.

The second I start to talk about anything at all their eyes glaze over and they either start looking around, talking to their kids, fiddling with their phone, or talking to someone else.

I'm fucking sick of it! It's rude!

WIBU to just stop bothering with all friends for a while until they can actually show me a bit of respect?

I would disassociate myself from them. They obviously don’t care so I would call it quits and ditch them

ChicagoWest · 03/07/2018 17:58

I'd have no friends if I did that to them all though. Oh apart from one who is always very lovely

They are not really behaving like friends now though are they.

Trinity66 · 03/07/2018 18:07

That's so rude but with friends like that who needs enemies, eh?

Tabathatwitchett · 03/07/2018 18:07

I have this with a work colleague who talks endlessly about all sorts nothing usually while I'm busily trying to complete a task. When I talk she doesn't listen at all. I used to blame myself (am I utterly boring) but actually it's more about her being entirely self centred and absorbed. It's just the way some people are.

MargaretCavendish · 03/07/2018 18:55

I completely agree that some people are like this - but you make it sound like everyone you know does this? If you're finding this happens in literally all your interactions it's a bit odd and I wonder whether you're maybe becoming a bit paranoid of this and so actively looking for signs that the other person isn't paying enough attention?

heatwave2018 · 03/07/2018 21:04

You don't have them as friends now you can make new ones!

bobstersmum · 03/07/2018 21:49

There is a mum at my ds school who sometimes walks back home the same way as me, we have babies the same age so usually chat if we happen to be walking together, but more than once I've been in the middle of talking about something and she's just butted in and changed the subject or started talking to someone else nearby! I think she's just odd because I don't know why she'd strike up a conversation with me if she doesn't like me or whatever. I have started to avoid her now which is childish of me I know, but it's embarrassed me.
People can be rude op!

This^^

They sound awful. I mean, if you a big old bore, they surely wouldn’t want to talk to you full stop. The fact they don’t mind boring on at you but then cba to listen to your stuff just means they’re not very good friends or conversationalists.
