Hi,

I am needing advice on exercise please! Never been the type to go to the gym or actively do any exercise, I walk the kids to and from school but thats about it.

I have recently invested in a treadmill and sit up bench and need some sort of plan...otherwise I will go nuts for about 2 weeks then give up!

My diet isnt all that great but im willing to do more exercise to account for that.

Currently 9st 1lb....would like to get to my target weight of 8st 3 ideally before the end of the year. My weight is on my thighs and stomach (thanks to my 3 children!)

Currently using my fitbit and hitting 10k+ steps a day ok...maybe not on a weekend when im being lazy
Any ideas on a exercise plan please?

defo no professional but regular gym goer.. I’d recommend setting targets, ie 5 miles on treadmill then x amount of sit ups, maybe one day on one off or x amount then half the next day to not over do it then resent it Grin
also about the food, most of the change you’ll see is because of diet.. think i read before it’s 80% diet 20% exercise so maybe incorporate a food plan too ? not necessarily a diet just switching to healthier options for things Smile
also may be worth getting a cheap second hand weight set? They’ve really helped me lose weight and tone up more than just cardio, and doing sit ups over and over which I now can’t stand Grin

Couch to 10k on treadmill

Plus situps i guess

Geekster1963 · 03/07/2018 14:35

I would suggest the couch to 5k if you don’t want to run outside you could do it on your treadmill. I did the NHS one and it really works, i lost weight and can run now.

It’s good because it builds you up slowly over nine weeks and you don’t need to be super fit or slim to do it. I was overweight when I did it.

I'd throw in free weights, or a kettlebell routine. But weights allow you to eat more calories.

It depends on what you mean by "your diet not being all that".

One thing to keep in mind is that you can not out-exercise a bad diet. If you are taking in too many calories, the moderate exercise you have in mind will not help shift the weight.
