What colours go with this dress...

I’ve got a wedding in 3 weeks time and I hate, hate, hate shopping with a vengeance. However, I think I’ve found a dress that I can just about go for but it’s an awkward colour. It’s a forest green and although I’d love shoes in the same colour I think I’m going to struggle.

Could the fashionistas of MN AIBU please help me!

Like a pp I’m a redhead and this colour is a favourite. I would team with gold, black would be too office/ formal. Weddings need a little splash of colour/ shine.

Burnt orange sounds lovely, but I also like the idea of emerald green, nude or silver.

I know zilch about fashion, but would suggest a corsage in white and yellow (orchid, rose?) with gypsophila around for the lapel. Will brighten and make wedding-y. Good florist can advise, book in advance?

As you are a redhead I'd say try turquoise shoes bag and hat, it will really lift the dark green, and be something a bit different from pink.

I would go for a light colour too, Nude, rose or gold would be lovely, if you do not want a high heel a slim heeled wedge could work.

I would go with bronze or rose gold shoes & clutch bag.

I think i'd also add a big wide stretchy belt to bling it up a bit - or maybe a wafty thin metallic pashmina draped stylishly around my arms (well, stylish in my imagination, anyway Grin

I agree with Racecardriver - either something floral/leafy or bright green to make it more summery. Then pick out a pale colour from the shoes for a bag - or even something "natural" like straw/macrame if that makes sense.

Loads would go with that.
Avoid black or other dark colors unless you want to look dowdy.

Any metallic, or cream or beige for a safe look.

Or a number of bright colors - bright blue, green, any shade of orange, fuchsia pink, yellow - for a bolder look.

You could do safe with one splash of color if you want (nude shoes, bag, wrap, then a bright pink flower for example).

I'd go for burnt orange or copper.

I had a dress in a similar shade and opted for a subtle gold but tbh when I saw the photos afterwards, it didn't look as good as I'd hoped.

Opposites on the colour wheel would be best as they complement each other, there is a bit of leeway as you can use different shades. Although the actual colour isn't on this, the tones are.
So, shades of green work with shades of red/peach/orange/bronze etc.

Dress is ordered! I’ll take it into town next week to check out the orange...I think that’s braver than gold, newish me (also had my hair cut shorter than I would normally)

I love the suggestion of a corsage as well. You lot are bloody fantastic ❤️ Thank you to each one of you style gurus on MN, and those proclaiming not to be...you’ve given me some awesome suggestions x

I second the natural colour with a shiny metallic tipped heel. Probably peep toe will look best IMO.
