To want to leave BT?

Saw it on the news the other day and just had the email to say they are putting their prices up yet again! They last did it in January of this year.

Had enough, want to go to sky would save £18 a month. My contract isn't up until January next year.

I'm sure I saw that dude from this morning - Martin someone - say that as soon as you receive confirmation from them of price increase - you can leave, you just have to give notice. They are breaking their contract which means you have every right to leave.

The email states if I'm in the minimum contract term you can leave - I don't have a clue what the minimum term is - google isn't helping.

Does anyone know? I want to ring them but need to know my rights before I do as they will more than likely fob me off like they did in January when I rang up to complain. I always find bt so rude when I ring them so I need to know more info before I give them hell....

Well I've just cancelled or contract. Easy peasy. Lady was lovely.

I was abrupt at first as she said she wanted to look for better deals to save paying the price increase. I explained that unless it would drop by £20 a month, I wasn't interested. Sky were giving me the same as bt for £20 less - £25 a month. I pay £47 now.

She said the best deal she could give me was at £49 a month lol!!! That's clearly not saving me a penny and that was for another 2 years.

So I said no thank you politely and that was it, cancelled. Have 30 days to join sky and for them to take over the landline and then bt will send a final bill.

@Millybingbong we had bt sports for free and should of done until jan 2019.

Then when they did the last price increase in January this year, they announced they were charging £3.50 for it as well as the price increase - our bill was going up £7 a month.

I rang them and they were happy to drop the price by £2 a month but only if we signed up another 2 years. I had no idea I could actually just cancel the whole thing there and then!

So I said no and to remove bt sports from our account - we've just been paying an extra £3.50 instead of £7 but no bt sports.

It's all just a massive con. Dh was not best interested about losing bt sports though but he's over it now....only taken him like 6 months Hmm

And my email arrived today. My husband watches bt sport a lot but the price increase is ridiculous.

Well done OP!
Thanks again for saving us a lot of money.

Our BT Broadband cuts out at least 3 times a day. We spent £200 getting the aerial replaced, after BT kept telling us that was the problem.

Except it turned out we were only getting 4mega wotsits.

We have BT Sport. It went off half an hour before the European Cup. It went off during the cricket, and during the boxing. When it doesn't go off, it pixilates most days. Son, when he is here, goes to the local Rugby club to watch the sport now. Seems to work there.

Their call centre is a joke, on one occasion refusing to give a job reference " because of data protection". Engineers did not turn up and ...blah blah... rants on..Grin

I am beyond grateful, and relieved that we could get rid so quickly, without having to end up with a protracted complaint heading towards the Ombudsman. Yay! I'm thrilled.
