Bumping for you OP in the hope that someone with more knowledge can help.

If your friend is concerned about the safety of her daughter today she needs to be very clear with the ward staff that she needs to speak to the senior nurse in charge. She may need to be persistent. “Yes I realise everyone is very busy and that Sister is not on today, but I know there is a senior nurse or maybe a matron with overall responsibility for this ward today. I am very concerned about [whatever] and think you need to take this very seriously”

My hospital has posters all over the corridors telling staff and patients how to raise concerns via a phone line that appears to be manned continuously. Maybe there’s something similar where your friend is?

It depends on what the complaint is.

PinkSnowAndStars · 30/06/2018 14:20

Ask to speak to the senior site manager or on call manager. There will be one

SnuffleBadger · 30/06/2018 14:57

Your friend needs to ask to speak to the on call hospital manager. If the ward aren't being helpful then go via switchboard and ask for the manager on call.

Yep ask for the senior nurse, matron or hospital duty manager. There is someone.

Every time someone on the ward refuses to help you, visibly write their name down.

I hope everything is ok.

Tobuyornot99 · 30/06/2018 15:24

Echoing pp, there will be someone senior in the hospital, insist on speaking to them

JonSnowsCloak · 30/06/2018 15:27

Ask for the on call matron or operational manager. They will also have a member of the executive team on call if you don't get anywhere. Ask for switchboard to put you through to the on call team and keep it in writing what's happened.
