To demand at least a month’s written notice of a change in the time of bin collections?

It’s only fair right? And if not, I require a personal bin service by way of recompense.

Bin collection if Friday at around 11am. Today it was 9am. Why oh why have they changed the collection routine during the hottest week of the year ? Arghhhhhhh

The recycling will be fine. The food bin, not so nice.

I'm trying to imagine demanding this from my borough council, who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, let alone get bin collection times regular.

You may have a good pint there, Liverbird. I’ll probably still be on the phone to them this time next week.

Right, I’m off to the FWP thread to grumble about some other important matters.

Pretty sure ours tell you to have your bins out by 7.30. Never known them come that early but you can't expect them to always come at the same time.

TheFaerieQueene · 29/06/2018 10:02

liverbird10 wins the Internet today. 🤣

halcyondays · 29/06/2018 10:02

If you were at home did you not hear the bin lorry coming down the street?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 29/06/2018 10:09

OP you have a collection day not a collection time. YABU

Our bins are usually collected at 7.30am. However occasionally it's much later if there's been a serious accident nearby resulting in road closures and rerouting.

Our council instructions are for bins to be out by 7am on collection day.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 29/06/2018 10:09

Unless there was a specific time which is unlikely, they haven't actually changed anything so they haven't done anything wrong. Give a ring to the council to try to get them to come back, they sometimes do and you don't have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks with a full bin stinking to high heavens.

Apparently collection was much later than usual around here this week, so when the cleaning company came to clean my bin, it hadn't been empty and they have to come back in 2 weeks (because now I have put rubbish in it). Not great either, but I can't blame the council!

littlemissdynamite · 29/06/2018 10:12

I think they should jolly well give you a 90% reduction in council tax. I mean, that IS the only bloody thing you get for your council tax - the bins emptied.

Bastards! Angry

Log it with 101. Don't wait, do it NOWWWWWW!

diddl · 29/06/2018 10:13

"Why oh why have they changed the collection routine during the hottest week of the year ? "

Perhaps to finish earlier?

At least yours are being colleted.

We have a dispute going on atm.

Our bins stood out a week before they were collected last time!

EatMyGoal · 29/06/2018 10:17

Ours come at 6 ish for bins and 6.30 for green and recycling so they have to be out the night before.

They did come late when when we had all the snow but didn’t collect the waste one as it was you heavy, they wrote ‘piss off’ in the snow on top which was funny and annoying at the same time 😂😡

EatMyGoal · 29/06/2018 10:18

*too not you 😳

With my greeny head on - nobody has a right to have their rubbish spirited away and dealt with. It's just a service that councils have historically provided along with maintaining the parks. It's kept the streets tidy (ish) but it's also encouraged us to think that the consequences of generating lots of waste are Not Our Problem.
Now that the current government is starving local authorities of resources, I'd much rather my council tax went towards better things.

GeorgeW78 · 29/06/2018 10:33

Sorry OP but they may have changed their hours because it's the hottest week of the year and they don't want to be out at the hottest time of day. I'd start early to avoid the heat and you should put them out the night before anyway so YABU but YANBU to want a council tax reduction for bin issues, they miss our row of houses 50% of the time. Hmm

liverbird10 · 29/06/2018 10:34

Buttered, you need to petition parliament ASAP. Perhaps we can arrange a march in support. Halo

Butteredparsn1ps · 29/06/2018 10:46

That's the spirit. Perhaps a gentle amble though, on account of the heat?

A stroll, if you will.

Imchlibob · 29/06/2018 10:54

Our bins weren't collected at their normal time this week either. We went on the website to complain there was a notice explaing that it's really hot and difficult at the moment and we shouldn't expect people to do their jobs. they eventually came a whole 24 hours late.

ShotsFired · 29/06/2018 11:09

@Butteredparsn1ps - tbh I'd log it with 101.
