to not know what to put on my kids feet in summer

They don't seem to cope well with sandals, we are constantly stopping to remove stones that find their way in - including Crocs annoyingly as I love Crocs.
So last year we opted for mesh type trainers - too hot with socks so wore without - ended up very smelly after a few weeks.
I'm contemplating aqua shoes as they look enclosed enough to stop stones going in - but will result in sweaty feet?
Am I the only one with this problem?

I find this brand great. Bit pricey but very durable and can be washed.

Bensimon (on Amazon) is an eco shoe alternative, OP.
Also Boden have a kids' version.
Hampton Canvas do women's and children's versions.

My 3yo often gets fussy about what's in her crocs. She wears little trainer socks with them if we are walking far as it also stops rubbing. The other shoes we have used are the toms little slip on ones with tiny holes.

Sand will get in but not stones really. Usually find them cheaper in tkmax. Sketchers do a similar style too.

You can get crocs that don’t have the little holes in them

If your 7yo is in size 3+, the 'literide' crocs have holes too small for most stones to get in. They are really comfy. I got myself some after seeing my 7yo in his!!

Literide

There are quite a lot of kids crocs that only have holes on the top, instead of in the sides as well. Would that work?

Toms?

My DS is walking slightly pigeon toed. We've seen a consultant and and podiatrist and a physiotherapist. The issue is due to him being a breech baby and his hips slightly tipping inwards, which I've been assured will likely improve as he grows and develops.

The advise from the experts is quite conflicting in terms of what footwear to put him in, he's four this Sunday and starting school in September. The school have agreed to let him wear boots which is not school uniform policy. I'm looking at Bobux Aspen, desert, outback and basketball boot. The physiotherapist suggested Dr Martins or Kickers but the consultant said to avoid anything too heavy! Any words of wisdom or suggestions on school footwear, is very gratefully received! Thanks in advance! xx
