AIBU to not swap cars?

We have two cars. One has satnav, one doesn’t.
DH is away this weekend so I’ll have the kids on my own. To break it up a bit (and stop us going stir crazy), I arranged to go to a couple of friend’s houses for play dates over the weekend. My sense of direction is appalling and I don’t go to these houses very often so I’m likely to get lost without a satnav. Asked if I could have the car with the satnav as he’ll be driving with someone who could map read/check google maps (I’ll have two toddlers - neither of which I have taught to map read yet!). He refused because it’s the more comfortable car and seen as ‘his’ car and he wants to drive it.
‘His’ car now has a flat tyre. He walked in this evening and stated that he would be taking the other car and his friend will map read and I will have to arrange a replacement tyre for the other one over the weekend.
My friends have kindly said we’ll meet in a park local to me and/or they’ll come to mine.
AIBU to tell him to jog on and take ‘my’ car keys to work with me tomorrow?!

Cheeky fucker. He can sort his own fucking car his own fucking self, especially as he wasn't prepared to swap cars when you wanted to!

DP wouldn't dream of assuming he can use my car. In fact, he probably wouldn't ask, as mine is much nicer and his is really uncomfortable by comparison so I hate using it. He would go on his motorbike or take the motorhome though, so he's not without options.

Hasn't DH's friend got a car? And if he has, why don't they go in his?

What is it with slefish pricks and cars tonight! This is the 2nd thread I have read.

Download google maps for yourself and tell him to jog on!

Oh he’s definitely not getting my car! I was just checking I wasn’t being a complete cow!x

He’s a CF

WhatchaMaCalllit · 28/06/2018 19:58

He could drive to the location - change the tyre back, phone the AA (or whoever your car insurance has as roadside rescue) feign ignorance on when the tyre developed the puncture, get it fixed and job is done. Or he could drive slowly on the flat tyre to the nearest tyre replacement/repair place and get it fixed and continue on his merry way.
Either way, he's not getting your car!

I can lend you one very annoying 6 year old who loves pretending to be the Google maps lady to install in his car. The directions will be utterly bollocks but she's got all the patter down correct!

LoopyLou1981 · 28/06/2018 20:01

bing your dd sounds brilliant! 😂

Good for you OP. For a moment there I thought he was going to take your car!

I honestly can’t believe the wankish behaviour of some partners and cars lately.

So he wouldn’t lend you ‘his’ car because it’s comfier??? What happened to putting other people first? I’d gladly hand over my car for the satnav if my dh was taking the kids somewhere even if it was comfier....

Get yourself a thing that clips to your dash op that you can put your phone so you can use google maps

And whilst I’m on a rant. Why is it HIS car? Surely they are FAMILY cars?

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 29/06/2018 09:54

So what happened this morning OP?

LoopyLou1981 · 29/06/2018 10:12

Last I heard he was phoning a mobile tyre fitter who was going to come out this morning.
Apparently I’ve ruined the weekend 🙄
He’ll get over it once he’s arrived and got a beer in his hand!

Twat.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 29/06/2018 12:48

He sounds very entitled. If he was mine I'd be inclined to really ruin his weekend and make him stay home with his kids!

WhatchaMaCalllit · 02/07/2018 19:32

How did the weekend go for you OP? Did your other half get his flat tyre fixed by the mobile fitter?
