Met a lady through baby groups etc she does seem nice etc we have ended up with a lot of friends in common BUT she continually gets my name wrong despite me telling her numerous times.
I know she spells it's wrong as she is one of those people who use your name a lot in WhatsApp messages so she is pronouncing it as she spells it but it's wrong and I have told her three times now.

It's really making me dislike her. AIBU?

Also her daughter hurt my child at the park one day it was an accident and kids do stuff all the time but she didn't message me to ask how she was... and the other two friends we were with at the time did! This has sent alarm bells ringing.

This person doesn't give a shit about me does she?

I am awful with names and I have a completely confusing name myself.

I have remembered a woman I work with as 'Lauren' her name is Phoebe'. This does not mean I dont like her!

Every man I meet is now Tom. I am bloody useless but I do care about people!

Dont hold it against her.

I'm hopeless with names, I always make false associations, for example, my dd has a friend called Dayan, and for years I would call her Diana, but my question is, do you want her as a friend? It sounds like you already don't like her and are casting around for reasons to justify this. I am just like your friend but I mean no harm by it.

There was a man at work who always called me 'karen' my name in no way shape or form resembles 'karen' I didn't see him that often...I just had to let it go in the end and just answered to it

I remember unusual names of people i dislike. How was mud glued? Confused.
I think you just dont like her. Its fine. You dont have to be friends.

My name is Micah - its pronounced Mee-kah - like meek as in shy with an A and not like Mike

Not surprised people get it wrong, even the Youtube pronunciation guides tell people to pronounce it Mike-a.

On the other hand, apparently "Micha" is pronounced the way you pronounce your name. So maybe change the way you spell it? (Though if I hadn't just googled it I wouldn't know how to pronounce that.)

Olddear I have only done this a couple of times in my life, but sometimes, for some reason, people look strongly like another name to me. There's one lady I worked with over forty years ago who was absolutely wonderful but I always thought of her as a Peggy, I can't even remember what her real name was.Sad

I forgot earlier to add that my family and I all technically pronounce my name incorrectly from how it is meant to be pronounced.

But only about 30% of people who say my name incorrectly are actually pronouncing it correctly if that makes sense. The other 70% get creative. Grin

Lesson: Don't give your children unusual names from cultures you aren't a part of and don't understand or at the very least Google the correct pronunciation.

Coyoacan I know what what you mean! I’ve been guilty of that too....!
