To ask for present recommendations for 8yo?

Travelling abroad to visit family soon. One relative who we will be staying with has an 8yo DD who I'm closely related to. We are flying so can't take anything big.

I have 2 boys under 5 whose current obsession are dinosaurs so no idea what an 8yo girl might like or what sort of things are in now.

Any suggestions for what I could get for her?

Fingerlings.

Squishies

Going by my 8yo I'd say anything unicorn or smiggle, or coloured gel pens (glitter/metalic/neon etc) and a notebook.

Her current favourite is a fabric roll type pencil case with 30 gel pens from the works which was £3 and a unicorn sketch book from smiggle which was about £5 (I think).

Squishies. Lol dolls/pets/little sisters. Funky notebook and gel pens.

Another vote for squishes. Just got some for an 8 year old girl's birthday. Bonus is they won't take up any room or weigh anything 😁

Anything unicorns.

I've never heard of any of these things! Lego, Lego and more Lego here. A book about horses (insert interest of choice), activity book or similar

Have a look on Wickeduncle. I get most of my present inspiration from there. My DD is 7 and obsessed with unicorns tho if that helps

Thank you for the replies!

Do you think I should ask her mum what she likes? Or should I just buy something?
