UK normal amount of alcohol?

So I'm sure we've all read the NHS guidelines on units etc...... but I personally can't work that out at all so I'm asking you lovely people, whats a normal amount of drinks per week say and in what pattern?
So me, I probably have around 8 glasses of wine on average a week (averaging out where I would go out to a friends or dinner and weeks where I stay in) and most weeks will have at least 3 days not drinking.
What about for men, whats normal for them, is it/should it be the same?

In Australia the recommended amount of wine per week is 6 glasses....man or woman. I'm sure that's about right.

How big is your glass? Half a bottle of the wine I'm drinking tonight is 5 units. But I get three 125 ml glasses out of that half bottle, but you might be drinking 250ml instead, so 8 glasses might be anywhere between 13 and 26 units. I drink a half bottle around three times a week, usually sharing with my husband so he's about the same.

You can work out your units and compare here www.drinkaware.co.uk

Depends on size of glass and ABV (alcohol by volume) value.
The wine I drink most often is 8% ABV so half a bottle is 3 units. But half a bottle of 14% wine will be 5.3 units.
Guidelines are 14 units a week.
It will state on most bottles of alcohol it's ABV and how many units of alcohol are in it.
