You give a child (9) £10 for spending money on school trip.
Child spends £6.

Who does the £4 belong to?

The parent or the child?

Child.

bluebellforest · 26/06/2018 22:29

I would say the child.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 26/06/2018 22:29

The child Hmm

mummyretired · 26/06/2018 22:29

Child.

MrsBungle · 26/06/2018 22:29

Child

arethereanyleftatall · 26/06/2018 22:30

Oooh I'd say parent!

WutheringFrights · 26/06/2018 22:30

Child

Polymamas · 26/06/2018 22:30

Child.

Astrid2 · 26/06/2018 22:30

I would have always given my parents the change!!

Labradoodliedoodoo · 26/06/2018 22:31

It depends. Pre trip did the parent say bring me the change? Otherwise it’s the kids

raysan1 · 26/06/2018 22:31

Great life lesson in saving money for something nice rather than frivolities perhaps?
Odd lesson if you take it back... as they'd benefit more by being a spendaholic

Polymamas · 26/06/2018 22:31

I'd rather them bring it home and spend it on something good than overpriced shit from some crappy gift shop.

wannabestressfree · 26/06/2018 22:31

To me it depends where it comes from...
From ds's money box I would put the change back. Or expect them to.
From my purse in a hurry- an extra- I would expect the change.

Thehop · 26/06/2018 22:31

Parent definitely!

Though I’d probably let dc keep it for cheek and front!

lardymclardy · 26/06/2018 22:32

Child unless you specified you wanted change.

Child is probably being frugal knowing they'll come home £4 up - otherwise they would have rinsed the £10. IME anyway Grin

Pikehau · 26/06/2018 22:32

Child

unless explicitly told “here is £10 spending money, I expect amy change back...”

WineAndTiramisu · 26/06/2018 22:33

Definitely child, otherwise you're teaching them to spend everything or lose it. Bad life lesson! Grin

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 26/06/2018 22:33

Child.

Someone I know would double whatever they brought home as a disincentive to blow it all on tat.

TheBigFatMermaid · 26/06/2018 22:33

The child--- unless, the £10 was amount specified for spends on the trip and the parents went out of their way to provide it and really need the change to provide for the family. In that case, the money should be given over, on the basis it will be paid back on another day, as a reward for the child's financial prudence.

Returnofthesmileybar · 26/06/2018 22:33

Child, unless you said bring back change

Mulberry72 · 26/06/2018 22:33

Child

Curtainshopping · 26/06/2018 22:34

Child

bumblingbovine49 · 26/06/2018 22:34

My dad would have said the parent. He always asked where his change was if he gave us money to buy something.
I would let DS keep it though

ConsistentInsomniac · 26/06/2018 22:34

The child.

shiklah · 26/06/2018 22:34

Child. Otherwise you're encouraging them to go for broke!
