You are not a bear or bloody tiger. You don't need to get claws out or roar nor are you earning stripes.

Just no !

AIBU to find the protective mother wild animal metaphors wierd and degrading

YAB a bit unreasonable! There are reasonable rxamples and over reacting

user1471517900 · 26/06/2018 22:20

You sound a bit like a crazy hyena here OP.

echt · 26/06/2018 22:21

nor are you earning stripes

This metaphor refers to military stripes, e.g. a sergeant's, not a zebra's. tiger's or tapir's.

Helloflamingogo · 26/06/2018 22:23

Echt it’s also a widely used metaphor re stretch marks and tigers. I kid you not.

donquixotedelamancha · 26/06/2018 22:24

You are an ostrich burying your head in the sand.

You sound a bit like a crazy hyena here OP.

That's a simile.

outofmydepth45 · 26/06/2018 22:24

Believe it or not I have heard 'earning stripes like a tiger' before

Crazy hyena - I like it !

I believe the tiger stripes is referring to this meme.

OP they make me want to vomit. I have loads of stretch marks and no children. It’s because I’m a fat bastard, not a roaring lion Grin

*i understand you can have stretch marks without being fat, but in my case I have them because I am fat.

itsallgravybaby · 26/06/2018 22:47

@Helloflamingogo same 😂

If I was a tiger I wouldn't be a very good one ha fat and socially awkward HEAR ME say excuse me really quietly while sweating profusely ROAR

FlirtyRomanticToast · 26/06/2018 23:05

Okay I'm going to stick my beak in here and address the elephant in the room...
I don't think these people will ever change their spots. They seem to flock together. Monkey see, monkey do I suppose.

Now, sorry to let the cat out of the bag but then I've never been a dark horse. I really think overusing animal metaphors is jumping the shark. And don't tell me that I'm using them as a scapegoat, that is nothing but a red herring. That's just following the herd.

I might be flogging a dead horse here but anyone using these tired clichés around me would find themselves in the doghouse sharpish. Not even a kangaroo court would convict me.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 26/06/2018 23:08

Oh well done, Flirty!

FlirtyRomanticToast · 26/06/2018 23:18

Why thank you @EllenJane
No need to kill the fatted calf though, I'm really the black sheep of the thread. But honestly, my bark truly is worse than my bite.
