To ask if there's a Aptamil supply issue?

So aptamil said they were changing their formula and the box, but there was nothing parents needed to do - have always used their first milk.

However, having seen the shelf full once of the new stuff in the new boxes, we haven't been able to get any!

We have a big Sainsbury's and 24 hour big Tesco, and both have been without for nearly two weeks!

We had to travel to the next big city to get some, and I'm worried when then run out if they will have the same problem.

Is this an issue with our supermarkets here? Or have other people noticed the same?
Has anyone used he new formula?

I thought a lot of the supply issues were because people buy it and sell it to China?! I certainly know people who do this.

I found the post I had seen on Facebook but I can't screenshot because of the group rules. I've written out the responses though. They are so contradictory and unclear, lots of copy and paste marketing speak. Sorry it's quite long.

What's different and how will it affect baby?
Our new First Infant Milk powder formulation combines our blend of ingredients with our unique production process.
It will not affect your baby. Like all our products it has been through vigorous health and safety procedures and is safe and designed for infants.

Are there any new ingredients? Are these beneficial? Website states it can affect babies while they change over, what will the symptoms be?
All the ingredients are the same. There is not change to the ingredients.
Little one may take time to adapt. This refers to the possibility of small changes in the digestive routine.

I'm confused. If ingredients are the same, what has been changed? Why does baby need time to adapt if the ingredients haven't changed?
Please be assured that there have been no significant changes to the ingredients and any minor changes are due to the change in process only.
All babies are different and because we have changed our processing it may have an impact in the digesting of the milk.

Website states baby may experience changes in digestion, can you be more specific?
Frequency of bowel movements and consistency may alter slightly.

Can you advise how to change over, website says gradually bottle by bottle, what does this mean?
It means gradually introduce the formula by offering one a day, then two the following day in conjunction with the formula you are currently using.

That's difficult if people don't have a stock of the old and shops are only stocking the new, a bit more warning would have been nice.
I understand this and as a Mum myself I understand your concerns.
I am happy to pass this feedback to our marketing team who are responsible for the communication to consumers.

Please advise exactly what is different if ingredients are the same? Being forced to change formula for a very young baby Is stressful. Expect better of such a reputable brand.
Inspired by 40 years of research in early life science, our team has developed our patented Aptamil First Infant Milk powder formulation. This formulation combines our blend of ingredients with our unique process.
Please be assured that there have been no significant changes to the ingredients and any minor changes are due to the change in process only.

Can you give more details of the process change? I don't understand how a change in process can affect digestion?
Our unique process includes a step involving fermentation of some of the ingredients which offers our latest innovation and id supported by research. Fermentation is a natural process that is widely used in products such as yogurts.

Does this provide benefits the old powder didn’t?
Due to strict regulations I am unable to make claims on our milk however what I can say if that it's nutritionally tailored for little ones and this is supported by 40 years of research.

Thanks @TrashPanda really appreciated!

You're right very contradictory, 😒

I checked this morning and it's now in stock, new formula only. I managed to find a lone bottle and DH found 2 in a little corner shop.

My LO will be 6 months when we've finished these boxes. As pp said the new boxes only say until 6 months, but the nhs website there's no need to use follow on milk...

So I'm now really confused what to do, I don't want to spend a week slowly introducing the new one to have to change any way 2 weeks later 🙄

My lo is 6m old at the weekend. Ive just bought a box of cow and gate First as i hear its so similar and he will be on thst until 12m ish. I don't wannt to start introducing something that seems more varied at the moment.

There isnt any need to switch to 2nd milks. I'll stick to the heavily regulated first milk rather than the marketed milks.

Looks like aptamil are having a hard time with this new formula!

We had an issue in January, which lasted 6 weeks, where sainsburys and asda in Edinburgh had no stock of aptamil 4. We were having to buy it from Boots in Princes St (even then it was out of stock on certain days) or asda in Galashiels. Our local sainsburys and tesco (Peebles) doesn't sell it. In fact, they sell very little in the way of formula/baby food. Just the essentials at the beginning. The asda we use has a much bigger variety so now we only buy from there. We were buying 2 boxes of formula at a time (every 3 weeks) because we didn't know how long the shortage would last.

We are at the stage where we are weaning our daughter off formula and onto normal milk. I do think it's cheeky, and greedy to reduce the size of the containers and not reduce the price. I don't buy their explanation for it either.
