To think if you lock your dogs in a sweltering car...

For thirty minutes (or any prolonged period) on a hot day you should be prosecuted and the dogs shouldn't be returned to your care? Just seen a Daily Mail article regarding this as police have had to smash windows to save two labs who were so hot they had to be hosed down by the RSPCA. Frankly, after 30 minutes, it's lucky they are not dead. I've been seconds away from smashing the window of a van parked near my work with two absolutely boiling GS dogs inside with no windows open, parked in the full sun. The owner came dashing over proclaiming they had only been there for 15 minutes. 15 minutes in a closed car on a summers day! How bloody stupid do you have to be to do this?!

Kursk
lleaving the engine running to cool dogs via a/c is against the law (rule 123 of the highway code
You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road.
as well as being most environmentally unfriendly. Unless you meant you run a/c then turn off the engine so the interior stays cool for a few minutes !

Yanbu.

You have to be a selfish and thick twat to leave your dog in a car on a warm day let alone in this heat.

The dogs hold be taken off them, they should be banned from ever keeping dogs again and their names should be publicised. How many public warnings do we need for bastards like this to realise.

Poor dogs. I had a 15 minute walk home from work earlier which was unbearable (I’m still flustered hours later, even after showering!). Couldn’t imagine being stuck in a car at the same time!

AForegoneConclusion Yanbu. There used to be a photo online of a plastic coat hanger which had melted in a car.

Does that chart take into account the way large dogs will heat up the inside of the car when they are trying to keep cool by panting? They act as a heat exchange unit.
Unfortunately, if they pant and draw in hot air, they overheat more quickly.

This video is fairly idiot-proof for the people who think because they've left the windows down an inch it'll be ok Hmm
