To just do the house at weekends

Poisongirl81 · 24/06/2018 18:38

I work full time so does OH. 2 kids.

All I seem to do at weekends is clean. I work and clean that is my life. OH helps but we seem to have so much to get through.

I just feel there must be more to life than this, at the same time I can't stand a dirty house.

Anyone else?

I wouldn't Placemats, as that isn't the going rate for cleaning. I don't think most people would - unless, of course their hourly rate coincidentally happened to be the same as the rate for cleaning. Jobs get different rates of pay - I don't think most people think that is unreasonable even if the differentiations aren't right- .

I can’t be arsed cleaning , Plus working full time. I know people who get up at 5.30am just to clean before work. I have no DC! but I do have pets and a DP who plays a lot of sport (lots of laundry from both of us)
I keep wondering about a cleaner but I’m too embarrassed to let one in my house Blush

I work almost ft too (and no, 4 hrs less does not more time for housework make!). I try to do a little every day, laundry baskets are small so I do washes regularly (big capacity machine helps) - washing up/dishwasher every night takes 10mins and always keep the kitchen clean, quick tidy up takes 5 mins each eve (everyone cleans up their own mess), clean the bathroom one day a week (toilet more often for you!). A handheld hoover really helps as it takes 2 mins to deal with any debris from kid’s meals. Proper full hoover once a week. I now don’t feel like housework is a chore, it has to be done so I break it down to be as painless as poss. Little and often. Sometimes it does get left of course, and the time it takes to get on top of it makes me remember to do it little and often.
